Rivals get past Chinook 3-2 in Regular Season Finale, District 7C up Next

The Chinook Sugarbeeters closed out the regular season on the road Friday night against the Geraldine/Highwood Rivals. The Sugarbeeters won the first match between the two teams 3-1 but the second time around it was the Rivals picking up a hard fought 3-2 win.

Chinook got off to a good start, winning the opening set 25-17. The Rivals would even the match at a set a piece with a 25-21 win in set number two. Chinook regained the advantage again, winning set number three 25-22. The Rivals however were able to close out the match with a narrow 25-23 win in set four and a 15-13 nail biter in set five to win the match 3-2

On the night the 'Beeters were led by senior Delaney Kellam with 15 Kills in the match, the 'Beeters had 47 as a team. Kellam also played well defensively at the net recording five blocks in the match.

Senior Ginger Hauer again led the 'Beeters with 24 of the teams 37 Assists on the night. Senior Jayden Miller dug up 15 balls for the defense as did senior Hailey Bell. Hauer also led the team with five Aces in the match.

Chinook will now focus all of their attention on the District 7C Tournament which gets under way this Thursday with games being played at two locations, Big Sandy and Fort Benton.

Chinook finished the regular season with a 9-3 conference record and 11-3 mark overall.

The 'Beeters will be the No. 2 seed at the District 7C Tournament and will play their first match Thursday in Big Sandy against the No. 7 Centerville Miners (0-11, 1-12).

The winner of the Chinook/Centerville match will move on to play the winner of the No. 3 North Star/No. 6 Big Sandy match Friday at 3:00 p.m. in Big Sandy.

All placing matches will take place Saturday in Fort Benton with the top four finishers advancing to the Northern C Divisional.

Fort Benton will host the Northern C Divisional November 4-7. The top two finishers will advance to the Class C State Tournament in Bozeman November 12-14.
