Blaine County Library

November 11, 2020

Blaine County Library will be closed today, Wednesday November 11th in observance of Veteran’s Day. We thank all Veterans who served to protect our freedoms!

Youth Programs have resumed with safety procedures in place to keep staff and students safe. After School Hangout for 7th and 8th grade is Mondays from 3:30 to 4:30. Tuesdays will be Story Time for ages 6 and under at 10:30. After School Hangout for grades 5 and 6 is Tuesdays at 3:30. Thursdays is LEGO Club for grades Kindergarten and up. Masks will be required for anyone age 5 and over during all programs. Hand washing will be required upon entering the building. There will be social distancing where applicable. There will be no food or drinks during programs.

In addition to the hotspots we have available for checkout, we now have 2 iPads available for checkout. The iPads were paid for by the Montana State Library using CARES funds and will be a permanent part of our collection.

Blaine County Library will not be having the Annual Hassle-Free Christmas Program this year. Since we cannot properly socially distance from one another and we will not be able to use the Senior Center, we will have to cancel this year. Hopefully next year things will be back to normal and we can once again get together!

The book display for November is full of cookbooks and Thanksgiving stories. New books this week include several thrillers. “Sanctuary” by V.V. James is a suspenseful debut that twists Big Little Lies with Practical Magic in a dark mystery of four women, a wicked secret—and an investigation that shakes their Connecticut town to the core. Sanctuary is the perfect town . . . to hide a secret. “Before She Was Helen” by Caroline B. Cooney is an absorbing mystery that brings decades-old secrets to life and explores what happens when the lie you've been living falls apart and you're forced to confront the truth. “Still Life” by Val McDermid is the latest cold case detective Karen Pirie novel. “The Invisible Life of Addie Larue” by V.E. Schwab begins in France, 1714: in a moment of desperation, a young woman makes a Faustian bargain to live forever―and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets. Thus, begins the extraordinary life of Addie LaRue, and a dazzling adventure that will play out across centuries and continents, across history and art, as a young woman learns how far she will go to leave her mark on the world. But everything changes when, after nearly 300 years, Addie stumbles across a young man in a hidden bookstore and he remembers her name. “Leave the World Behind” by Rumaan Alam is a magnetic novel about two families, strangers to each other, who are forced together on a long weekend gone terribly wrong.

We continue to offer curbside service for anyone who is not comfortable coming into the library. Call or email us with your list and we will get you taken care of. We are requiring masks for all patrons age 5 and up to enter the building. Upon entering the building, we require everyone to wash their hands prior to any activity in the library.
