The library hopes to spread some holiday cheer this month. Stop by to warm up and see the tree of Christmas books on display. Some new additions include “Christmas Cupcake Murder” by Joanne Fluke, “Happily this Christmas” by Susan Mallery, and “One Bright Christmas, “ another of Thomas Kinkades’ Cape Light novels by Katherine Spencer. Any books from the holiday display as well as other books on display this month will qualify for the December Book Challenge.

Tune in to Facebook Live each Thursday in December at 1:00 P.M. for Christmas with Carly and Colleen. We will be sharing Christmas stories old and new for all ages. Please like the Harlem Pubic Library on Facebook so you can watch!

Littles ones won’t want to miss Virtual Story Time each Tuesday at 10 A.M. on Facebook Live. Carly will share stories, songs, and fingerplays with lots of fun included! Children are invited to pick up take-home activity packets at the library.


The Friends of the Library will not be able to host the Wine and Cheese Fundraiser this year. If you have fundraising ideas that will meet the COVID-19 safety guidelines please call Sally O’Leary at 353-2329 or Shirley Brockie at 353-2716. Also it is time for past and new members to pay the annual Friends of the Library dues of $10. These may be dropped off at the library or sent to Valerie VanVoast at PO Box 172, Turner, MT 59542.

The Winter Reading program is currently underway. You may participate in this exclusively online program using the READsquared app or website to track books, earn online badges, and unlock mini-games. You can find the link to READsquared on the library website. All ages are encouraged to take part. This program continues until the end of February 2021. Call the library for more information.

The Book Club is taking a break during December but will start again in January.

The library board of trustees has complete the new Strategic Plan for 2020-2023. This includes the goals, objectives, and proposed activities for the library. This document is available to the public on the library website or you may read a copy at the library.

“Fifty Words for Rain” is by Asha Lennie. This debut novel is a heartrending story of a young woman’s quest to be accepted in post-World War II Japan.

Megan Goldin, who wrote “The Escape Room” has written a new novel “The Night Swim.” Rachel Krall, a true-crime podcast host, finds herself involved in a small town’s dark past including a brutal crime that took place years ago.

A new nonfiction selection is “Why We Serve: Native Americans in the United States Armed Forces” by Alexandra N. Harris and Mark G. Hirsch.

“Before She Was Helen” by Caroline B. Cooney is a mystery that “brings decades-old secrets to life and explores what happens when the lie you’ve been living falls apart and you’re force to confront the truth.”

The prequel to “The Pillars of the Earth” by Ken Follett is “The Evening and the Morning.”
