Blaine County Fair Board Is Seeking Vendors for Local Farmer and Flea Market

March 3, 2021

In late February, Chad McKenzie reported that he was already getting ready for this year's garden. This seedling rack will house the cool weather vegetables. He wonders if anyone else has the gardening bug.

The Blaine County Fair Board is pleased to announce that they will be hosting a monthly community Farmer and Flea Market at the fairgrounds from May through October of 2021. The planning committee is looking for potential vendors that will start making plans and send in their applications to reserve a table or booth.

Beginning in May, this alcohol-free, family-friendly event will take place on the second Saturday of every month from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Vendors are invited to market their home-made crafts, farm produce, rummage items, food carts, and more.

The cost to set up is $20/table or booth, with both indoor and outdoor options available. Vendors will be responsible for providing all of their own tables, chairs, tents, and other relevant materials to display and market their items for sale.

According to one of the event planners, Mary McKenzie, part of the focus of this day is to create family fun. Therefore, in addition to the vendor displays, the Farmer and Flea Market will feature a special event planned for the day, complete with live music from local musicians.

Anyone interested in reserving a vendor space can visit the Blaine County Fair webpage (https://blainecountyfair.net) and complete a vendor form. This form can be emailed to blainecountyfair@gmail.com or postal mailed to Blaine County Fair (Farmer & Flea Market); P.O. Box 1207; Chinook, MT 59523.

Individuals with questions are encouraged to contact Fair Manager, Debbie Ramberg at 406-945-3841 or McKenzie at 406-301-4276 (cell) or 357-2787 (home).

"Let's bring our community together with a little fun and the satisfaction of supporting local creativity and industry," McKenzie invited. "I have spoken with a few people who are already interested, but we are also looking to recruit more participants."

On February 12, Chad McKenzie created a public group Facebook page for the venture, giving it a clever rhyming name: Chinook Market Farmer & Flea 59523. He encourages vendors who have signed up for the market to "feel free to post sneak-peaks of what they will be bringing to sell." Such posts would not only build anticipation but provide a good way to spread fear of missing out.

By Sunday, February 21, McKenzie reported that he was already getting ready for this year's garden. He posted a picture of a seedling rack with this caption: "Getting the cool weather vegetables going. Anyone else got the bug? This is how all great things begin: a tiny seed germinates and, with care and God's blessing, grows into something amazing. . . . I hope you are beginning to make plans for what you want to bring to the market."
