P.A.W.S. of Chinook to hold Adoption Event

March 3, 2021

Alissa Hewitt had a remarkable first year as Manager of the P.A.W.S. Animal Shelter in Chinook and looks to do even more in 2021. Heading into spring is a big deal for the Shelter as things start to pick up rather quickly, "We really start to hit the busy time of the year at the shelter," said Hewitt. "Leading into this time, empty, is a big help for us as we are able to clean out the building, prep the yard, and give the volunteers a well needed break."

Along with her staff of volunteers and by working with Kailey Kleinjan of Hi-line Canine, as well as Vizsla Brewing, they are off to a great start. The first major event of the year will be their 'Doggy's Day Out Adoption Event' this Saturday at the Vizsla Brewing Taproom in the Holiday Village Mall. Festivities will get underway at 2:00 p.m. And conclude by 6:00 p.m.

"P.A.W.S. of Chinook volunteers will have all four available dogs with us inside the taproom," added Hewitt. "It's a wonderful time to come out and meet them in person. You'll also be supporting a local business who has been a wonderful friend to the P.A.W.S. shelter." In addition, families or individuals looking to adopt and have already had their eyes on one of the dogs at the shelter can fill out an application ahead of time. Applications can be found on the P.A.W.S. of Chinook website https://pawsofchinook.rescuegroups.org. Applications will be on hand at the adoption event. Kailey Kleinjan of Hi-line Canine will be on hand as well, answering any questions folks may have with training their adopted dog.

It takes a dedicated staff of volunteers to accomplish all of the goals that Hewitt has set for the year, including her Husband Edwin and their two children. Volunteers donating their time include Laura Kellam, Brenda and Saraya Jones, Martha Dickinson, Erica and Maeve Smith, Linsey and Connor Adair, Amy Jones and Tristan Gauer. "We are looking forward to another amazing year at the shelter. We cannot do the work we do without the incredible support of our community. We have exciting events coming up this year as well as more changes coming to the shelter.

The shelter has ran micro chipping clinics, training classes, cleanups and many other activities in the past year and while none are currently scheduled keep checking the website to stay informed.
