Vendors Still Being Sought for Chinook Farmer and Flea Market

April 28, 2021

If community members haven’t already encountered fliers announcing the Chinook Farmer and Flea Market, they will soon be seeing them posted around town as well as some signage at the Blaine County Fairground’s entrance. The Market is on schedule to open May 8 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

With spaces still available for vendors, event organizers encourage interested individuals to apply. Applications will be accepted up to the day of the Market, providing that space remains available. Each vendor-space is approximately 20 feet by 20 feet, and the first to apply will be the first to secure spots. Forms are available at the Blaine County Fairgrounds website (https://blainecountyfair.net). Once completed, these forms can be emailed to blainecountyfair@gmail.com or sent to Blaine County Fair Farmer & Flea Market; P.O. Box 1207; Chinook, MT 59523.

Early last week, organizers reported that six vendors were signed up. Items for sale will include heirloom garden plants, farm-fresh eggs, homemade pies, home-crafted feather bow-ties, and Brazilian food. Additionally, the White Pine 4-H Club will be hosting a bake sale.

Since the Market is scheduled for the second Saturday of every month from May through October and is intended to be a community affair, other attractions aim to provide family entertainment. There will be baby goats for petting and a jam-session for any local musicians who wish to bring their instruments and participate. The event will also feature a couple of pay-to-play inflatables. Proceeds from these inflatables will contribute to funding church summer youth camps.

Because the PAWS Spay and Neuter Clinic will also be taking place at the Fairgrounds on May 8, the Chinook Farmer and Flea Market will be completely outdoors this time, though people will have access to the bathroom facilities.

One event organizer, Mary Mckenzie stated, “I hope we will get a few last minute vendors, but we’ll enjoy ourselves anyway.”
