Harlem hosts first swim meet of the year, Chinook Lions finish 2nd, Harlem 4th

The Chinook boys 13-14 Relay established a new Federation Record Saturday in the 200 Meter Free Relay. Brockton Elliot, Kolton DePriest, Daniel Tilleman and Dentin DePriest finished in (1:47.15) to establish the new mark. Daniel also set a new Federation record in the 13-14 boys 50 meter freestyle (:25.30).
The Montana Federation of Swimmers summer season kicked off with a bang this past Saturday and Sunday in Harlem with beautiful weather and fantastic competition.
Despite being without a pool to practice in and little opportunity to get in the pool at all the Chinook Lions turned in a stellar season opening performance.
The Lions finished second overall, claimed three individual High Point trophies and established four new State Federation records.
The Harlem swim team did an outstanding job hosting the swim meet and finished fourth overall in the team standings while also having three swimmers receive High Point awards.
The Lions first established a new Federation State record in the 13-14 boys 200 Meter Freestyle Relay. The team of Brockton Elliot, Kolton, DePriest, Daniel Tilleman and Dentin DePriest completed the four legs in (1:47.15) to establish the new mark.
Tilleman wasn't done breaking Federation records though. Daniel completed two lengths of the pool in (:25.30) to set a new state record in the 13-14 boys 50 Meter Freestyle.
Chinook's Katie Tilleman turned in a record breaking performance herself, setting a new state standard in the girls 11-12 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of (:28.27). Katie also won the 50 Meter Backstroke in (:36.49) and the 50 meter breaststroke in (:38.17) to win the High Point trophy.
Lion Britton Elliot set the new state record in the 15-19 50 meter Freestyle with a time of (:26.66). She also took home gold in the 100 meter freestyle (1:02.73) and the 100 meter backstroke (1:18.79) to win High Point.
Chinook's Kolton DePriest earned High Point honors as well with a win in the 11-12 boys 50 meter freestyle, a win in the 50 meter breaststroke (:42.10) and a second in the 100 meter freestyle.
Harlem's Ciana Johnson earned a High Point with a win in the 9-10 50 Meter butterfly (:46.33), a second in the 50 meter freestyle (:35.54) and the 100 meter freestyle (11:21.93).
Shayne Stiffarm won his High Point by winning the 13-14 200 meter medley (2:34.21), 100 meter breaststroke (1:15.74) and the 50 meter butterfly (:27.88).
Harlem's Andrew Rasmussen took home a High Point with wins in the 15-19 boys 400 meter freestyle (4:57.62) 100 meter butterfly (1:07.56) and the 200 meter medley (2:30.60)
