Turner sophomore Ryan Doyle has played a huge roll for the Tornadoes this season. Doyle scored 27 points this past weekend against Dodson and Box Elder.

The Turner Tornadoes played host to the Dodson Coyotes in a non-conference clash. Turner had earned a 54-49 win back in December over the Coyotes and were looking to complete the season sweep.

The Coyotes found their mark from the distance early on, connecting four times from beyond the arc to build a early 16-11 advantage over the Tornadoes. Sophomore Trent Billmayer connected from the distance to keep the Tornadoes close.

The Tornado offense began to click in the second quarter as they seized the momentum back for the home team. Senior Trevor Kimmel led the way with seven points in the frame. Freshman Carson Maloney scored six for the Tornadoes while junior Charlie Calvert and sophomore Ryan Doyle each scored four. Turner tallied 21 second quarter points to take a 32-27 halftime lead.

Turner outscored the Coyotes 11-9 in the third quarter behind the six point effort of Billmayer. Turner seemed in control, heading to the fourth quarter with a 43-37 lead.

The Offense continued to score for the Tornadoes down the stretch. Kimmel and Maloney each scored from distance and the Tornadoes put up 15 points. The defense, however, gave up 25 points in surrendering the lead resulting in a tough 61-58 loss to the Coyotes.

The Tornadoes had four players in double figures. Kimmel led the way with 16 points. Doyle scored 14 in a solid effort while Billmayer and Maloney each tallied 11.

Saturday the boys were in Box Elder taking on the District 9C No. 2 Bears. Box Elder won the first meeting between the teams 86-29. This go around saw the Tornadoes put together a much better effort. Turner 38-21 at the end of the first half and then went toe to toe with the Bears in the second, falling 68-48.

Maloney led the Tornado effort with 18 points in the contest. Doyle finished with 13. Turner will host Hays/Lodge Pole Friday at 6:30 and Chinook Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
