Lady Cats, Tornadoes Close Out Regular Season with Losses

The Turner Tornadoes and Harlem Lady Cats had a tough final week of action as both teams concluded their regular seasons.
The Tornadoes dropped a pair of contests beginning with a hard fought 49-45 setback Friday night against the Big Sandy Pioneers. Saturday the girls suffered a tough 52-42 loss against the North Star Knights.
The Harlem Lady Cats fell 66-46 in Malta Monday to the M-ettes. Thursday they were defeated by the Box Elder Bears 72-21. Friday in the season finale, the Lady Cats fell to the Glasgow Scotties 56-49.
Turner closed out the regular season with both games at home and honored their seniors Saturday in between games with the Knights.
Turner turned in a solid effort against Big Sandy Friday, nearly pulling off the upset. The Tornadoes had their chances down the stretch, but just couldn’t get over the hump. Freshman Meridian Snider connected on four three-point bombs and scored 19 in the loss to the Pioneers. Junior Dakota Krass chipped in nine for the Tornadoes.
Saturday against the Knights Turner was led by Krass with 21 points including three from downtown. Freshman Cassidy Grabofsky added 14 to the Tornado effort including three triples of her own.
Senior Taya Trottier led the Wildcats in Mondays contest with M-ettes, scoring 16 points, senior Chloe Messerly added 12. Against Box Elder, it was Messerly leading the effort with nine points.
Harlem was led Friday night against the Scotties by Trottier with 27 points in a huge senior night effort. Messerly tallied nine markers while freshman Aaraya Mount contributed eight.
Turner concluded the regular season 0-14 in District 9C play and 4-14 overall. Turner will open up play as the No. 8 Seed at the District 9C Tournament Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. against the No. 1 Seed Box Elder Bears.
The Lady Cats finished the regular season with a 2-6 record in the District 2B and a 6-10 overall mark. Harlem will begin play at the District 2B tournament as the No. 4 Seed and will play No. 5 Poplar Thursday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
The District 2B Boys and Girls Basketball Tournament is being held at the Glasgow High School Gymnasium. As always the District 9C Girls and Boys Tournament is being played in Havre at the Blue Pony Corral.
