The Chinook Sugarbeeter Boys and Girls golf teams were in Shelby this past Thursday competing in the Sunburst/Valier Invitational. The tournament was played at the Marias Valley Golf Club just south of Shelby. Spring weather in Montana is anything but predictable so it's imperative to get as many rounds in as possible when the conditions allow.

In Class C Golf a Varsity team scores three players while playing four. In each round the three best scores of the four make up the total team score. During the season, schools will take into account all the scores compiled by each golfer that will make up the team as they head to Divisional.

The Chinook boys Varsity team this past Thursday included junior Ryan Meneely, senior Braden Eoff, senior Oskar Pula and junior Daniel MacLeod. The team finished fourth in the team race finishing with a total score of 312. The 'Beeter girls team included sophomore Hallie Kralich, junior Morgan Friede, senior Shay Hauer and freshman Cayla Hofer. The 'Beeter girls finished third with a team total of 347.

Meneely paced the 'Beeter team shooting a round of 98. Meneely went out in 48 picking up a par on the 329 yard par four sixth hole. Meneely came in with 50 on the back nine, making par on the par five eighteenth hole to finish eleventh in the individual race.

Eoff shot a 51-54 to post a round of 105 making a par on the par five eight hole and finished fourteenth on the day. The third score counted to the 'Beeter team total was a 59-50 109 posted by Pula. MacLeod recorded a 64-61 125 to round out the 'Beeter boys contingent.

On the girls side of the ledger it was Kralich leading the way with a solid 18 hole score of 102. The sophomore went out in 52 paring the par five eighth hole. Kralich came in with a 50 on the back nine recording a par on the seventeenth. Her round was good for second in the girls individual race.

Friede finished eighth in the girls individual tournament posting a round of 118. Friede shot a 56 on the front nine to go along with a 62 on th back nine. Hauer rounded out the scoring for the 'Beeter girls with a 127. Hofer recorded a score of 134 to complete the 'Beeter scoring.

The weather will play a huge factor in determining the next time the team can get a round in as they look to get set for the post season. This marks the first year where the Class C will conduct a Divisional Golf Tournament prior to heading to the State Tournament next month.
