Wildcats Fill Coaching Positions for 2022-23 School Year

When the 2021-22 High School sports season concluded the Harlem Wildcats were left with coaching vacancies across the board, all sports, all levels, Varsity, Junior Varsity, C Squad and Junior High. Beginning with the May School Board meeting and continuing with the June Meeting those positions have largely been filled.

The Harlem Lady Cat and Wildcat basketball teams are both coming off banner seasons that seen them compete at the Class B State Tournament. The Lady Cats will once again be under the tutelage of Head Coach Brandon Trottier. Derek Azure has been hired as the Lady Cats JV Basketball Coach.

The Wildcats will be led in the 2022-23 season by Head Coach Ben Carrywater. Thomas Champagne Jr. will serve as the boys assistant Coach. Carrywater and Champagne Jr. are familiar with program having served as Assistant Coaches under previous Head Coach Geno LeValdo

Jeremy Walker and Nathan Martin have been hired as Junior High Boys basketball coaches with the District reserving the right to withdraw based upon results of a background check.


Jon Baker will return to lead the Harlem wrestling program with John Stiffarm and Lyle Faulkinberry being hired as high school wrestling assistant Coaches.

Clayton Talks Different was hired to serve as Junior High Cross Country Coach. Lyle Faulkinberry will return as JV Volleyball Coach and Aimee Timmons was selected to fill the duties as C Squad Volleyball Coach. Wendy Briere will once again be the Harlem high School Cheer Coach.

The Board approved all of these hires with four votes for and with one Trustee absent. In addition Antonio Blue Gamble was hired to serve as Junior High Girls Basketball Coach with the District reserving the right to withdraw based upon results of a background check. Three Trustees voted in favor, one abstained and one was absent.
