This is the last week for the summer reading program. All participants are asked to have their reading logs and book totals to the library on July 22. There will be no children’s programs until fall. Thanks to everyone who participated and supported the summer reading program.

The library board will hold its monthly meeting July 27, 4:15 in the library meeting room.

The Book Challenge for July is to read a book featuring a baby. You may win a gift certificate from a local business!

Mark you calendars for August 8 and 22 when Kerry Shabi, Business Development Coordinator for Montana Native Growth Fund, will be offering two free virtual economic development webinars. “Basic Budgeting” will be offered on August 8 and “Business Startup” will be presented August 22. Both webinars will take place from noon to 1:00 P.M. The link to join the meeting will be available at the library, on our webinar, and Facebook page. These webinars are open to everyone!


A new addition to the Montana Collection is “Echo of Crosscuts and Rails” by Joan M. Draszt. This work contains stories and information from personal family interviews or letters about three small communities in northwestern Montana. It also tells the history of railroads, homesteading, logging, and mining of the region.

“The Latecomer” is a novel by Jean Hanff Korelitz. The Oppenheimer triplets were born via IVF to their wealthy New York parents. The siblings feel no strong family ties and cannot wait to go their separate ways. When the triplets leave for college, their mother makes the decision to have a fourth child. What role will the “latecomer” have in this fractured family?

“City on Fire” is by Don Winslow. This first installment in a new crime saga that tells the story of two crime empires that control New England. Danny Ryan wished to escape the syndicate life, but when bodies pile up as the Irish and Italians declare war, he knows he must stay to protect his friends and family.

Katie Gutierrez is the author of “More Thank You’ll Ever Know.” In this suspense story a woman is caught leading a double life after one husband murders the other, and the true-crime writer who is obsessed with telling her story.

“The Woman in the Library” by Sulari Gentill brings to readers a twisty literary adventure. The peace of the Reading Room in the Boston Public Library is shattered by a woman’s scream. While waiting for security to give the all clear, four strangers strike up a conversation that leads to friendships. Each had their own reason for being in the reading room – it just happens that one is a murderer.

Other new titles include “The Drowning Sea,” a Maggie D’Arcy Mystery by Sarah Stewart Taylor, “Take Your Breath Away” by Linwood Barclay, and “Life Flight” the first installment of the Extreme Measures series by Lynette Eason.
