2022 Sugarbeet Festival 'Back in My Day' set for Saturday, October 1

The 2022 Sugarbeet Festival is right around the corner and there is still time to get a float ready, get your costume put together or free up your schedule to enjoy the festival to the fullest. The Chinook Area Chamber of Commerce is thrilled about what's in store for this year's festival, "We have about 10-15 vendors lined up and will have five food vendors and other artist and products vendors," said Chamber President Daniel Dahl. "We'll see how the parade goes, people know about it and have more time to plan this year. Also, we have more activities this year which is great and they're are all done by different businesses and organizations. We are really excited for this year's Sugarbeet festival."
After being extremely short handed, Dahl is pleased to announce that the Chamber once again has a full board. "Bryce Weinheimer is the Vice President, Sam French is the Parliamentarian, Pastor Ritch Grimes is Treasurer and Jenna fox is Secretary," commented Dahl. "With a full board we've gotten a lot of stuff done faster."
The theme for the 2022 Sugarbeet Festival is 'Back in My Day', "The theme has to do with the current increase in prices of basically everything. Just a good reminder of the good old days," said Dahl. This year's Sugarbeet Festival will take place on Saturday, October 1 with a full day of activities planned. Things will get underway at 9:00 am with the return of the 'Fun Run', "First bank of Montana is doing the fun run and we are excited for them to do that," added Dahl.
The Chinook Rod & Gun Club's 10th Annual Gun and Antique Show will take place over three days, September 30 through October 2 with a ton of exciting things going on down at the Blaine County Fairground Commercial Building. In addition, the Blaine County Cruisers will have a Car Show on Saturday morning right next door. Beginning at 4:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon the Friends of the Pool and Park Foundation will be holding their Annual Brewfest.
Main street will be filled with activities all day long. In addition to the numerous vendors, Bounce Houses will be up for the kids to enjoy and many of the business will be holding various contests throughout the day. Beginning at 11:00 am, Shore's Floral will be holding a Dog Costume Contest as a fundraiser to support the local PAWS Animal Shelter. The Grand Prize winner will receive a $25 Gift Certificate to North 40 and a basket of treats for their Pup.
Mark and Betty Billmayer of B & B Buyers will be hosting a Pie eating Contest which will get underway at 11:30 am. "I've never actually been to a pie eating contest, but it was on a list out of ideas sent out by the Chamber and I like to make pies, so we decided to sponsor one," said Betty. "I'll make pie crusts and the filling will be pudding. People have suggested various gross things I could put in the pudding, but I promise not to do that! No forks allowed, in fact no hands allowed so it'll be messy. I guess we better have bibs! It will be timed and whoever eats a whole pie the fastest wins $75 in Chamber Bucks."
At Noon the Mint Bar will be holding a 'Washer Toss', don't know what that is? Stop in and get the details! You still have time to practice. The Blaine County Museum will be hosting a 'Lady in the Glass' lookalike contest Saturday afternoon at 1:30 pm. Get your costume together, make it perfect and take a chance. Rads Deli & Pizza will conduct a Trivia Contest with the first questions being asked at 2:00 pm.
Want to be in the Parade? There is still plenty of time to get signed up and get your entry ready. The Sugarbeet Festival Parade is set to get underway at 3:00 p.m. The Blaine County Museum will conclude the day at 5:00 pm with a special viewing of 'Forty Miles from Freedom' in observance of the Battle of the Bear's Paw Anniversary. The Blaine County Museum also invites Festival goers to stop in and see the 'Blackfeet Tipis: Design and Legend' display.
