Project Pumpkin and Something Strange Are Happening on Indiana Street

November 9, 2022

This past Halloween, Project Pumpkin was unveiled in Chinook at Brickcent$ on Indiana Street. Owner of Brickcent$, Brandon Nissen had hoped to also build something with a "Strange" theme, but he only had five Trick-or-Treaters, so the project didn't take off as he intended.

Completed on October 27, Nissen constructed a Sugarbeeter mascot that measures approximately 15 inches wide by 24 inches tall. Made entirely with LEGO bricks, the figure is designed to be a wall hanging.

Chinook High School officials granted Nissen permission to sell the figures, and he began taking orders on October 31. He will continue accepting orders through Black Friday. Eventually, Nissen hopes to design a Blue Pony as well as create the mascots from other area schools. Anyone interested in ordering a LEGO wall hanging should contact him.

In other events, Nissen had invited area residents to bring their children by the office at 236 Indiana Street on Halloween. "Be a part of a true sense of community," he offered. The plan was to build Dr. Strange's Sanctum. Nissen envisioned that youth would add some bricks, get some candy, and then the next person would take over. "Eventually, a community is built, one brick at a time!"

Given that most trick-or-treaters took in the Trunk-or-Treat event in Chinook, there weren't as many young people wandering the town to be a part of recreating Dr. Stange's iconic Sanctum Santorum, a 2700 piece LEGO set. The three-story, 360-degree recreation of the grand and notorious home of Doctor Strange is a display piece that celebrates the Marvel Universe. It features nine characters from two movies: Marvel Studios' Avengers: Infinity War and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

In the absence of help, Nissen built the structure himself and will unveil it at the Parade of Lights later this month.
