Art Show Winners Named

The 74th Annual Seed Show is in the books, and according to the Superintendent of the Art Show, Mary-Kate Nienhuis-French, the display of artwork was especially "impressive" this year with so many of the Hi-Line schools represented. Purple rosettes were awarded to Best of Show in three divisions: K-8, high school, and adult. Other categories also featured multiple winners.

In the K-8 category, Seventh Grader Liberty Wicks from Inverness captured the Best of Show crown. For the high school division, Trinity Bell received the judges' nod. Bell, who is a tenth grader at Harlem High School, obtained a rosette for her self-portrait done in the Pointillist style. She had several other pieces in the art show, as well, collecting six ribbons in total.

In the adult division, Jeanette Jarmon of Hays achieved the Best of Show designation. Jarmon is the art teacher at Hays, and she won with her painting of Mission Canyon in Hays.

"There were students showing work from grades K-12 in Harlem, Hays High School, Havre High, Chinook Elementary, Turner, Zurich Elementary, North Harlem Colony, and even one student from Inverness," French said.

The Art Show was set up in the Harlem High School Library, so people could visit the "gallery" while taking in the Seed Show festivities. Some of the categories at the show were Pebble Art, Mid-Winter Fair: Fierce Warriors Making a Difference, Seed-Show Original Artist Proposed Projects, Watercolor One-Word Mantras, Pointillist Self-Portraits, Faux Stained Glass, and Agamographs, which are two-way colored pencil art pieces.

In the Pebble Art Category, blue ribbon winners were Jasalyn Lambert and Romeo Main, while the blue ribbon winners from Mid-Winter Fair were Mikaela Doney, Xavier Young, and Nicole Turns Plenty. Best of Show winner in that category was Raelynn Briere.

In another category, Seed-Show Original Artist Proposed Projects, blue ribbons were earned by Xavier Young, Kehtsin Stiffarm, Raelynne Briere, Autumn Doney, Jaeden Flansberg, Mylee Bell, Seth Ironchild, Orion Cuts the Rope, Kaleigh Main, and Angelique Oats.

Those securing blue ribbons in the Watercolor One-Word Mantras category were Braylon Yazzie, Trinity Bell, Mikaela Doney, Alexis Castillo, Joleigh RedTomahawk, and Jaeden Flansberg.

For their Pointillist Self-Portraits, Trinity Bell, Kacia Boushie, Kaliegh Main, and Liz Main all walked away with blue ribbons.

In the Faux Stained Glass category, Cadence Fortin, Colten Jorgenson, and Kaleigh Main won first place, and for their Agamographs, Tealey Hawley, Luccio Tushka, Natalia Oats, Trinity Bell, Cadence Fortin, Angelique Oats, Antone Rider, and Natalia Oats received blue ribbon status.

French expressed pleasure at the participation she observed and wishes to thank all of the artists for displaying their creativity.
