The Blaine County Fair, held August 7–9, faced some soggy challenges this year as rain poured nonstop on Saturday. Joanne was born to Sarah and Guy Riggin on April 5, 1936, in Havre, Montana. She grew up with a love for animals and was an accomplished trumpet player. In 1951 she married Paul Wing. They had four children, Zane, Mark, Lisa, and Robyn. When they married they were both students in Bozeman. In 1968 she and the children moved to Ashland, Oragon where she married Bob Selby in the early 70's. After a move to Roseburg, Oregon, Joanne achieved her RN degree at Umpqua Community College. Patrick James Murdy was born on March 18th, 1930, in Ismay, Montana. He graduated from Custer County High School in Miles City, Montana, in 1948. A year later, in 1949, Pat enlisted in the Marine Corps, where he served in a M.A.S.H. unit during the Korean conflict. Pat was married to Rosemarie for 39 years until her passing in 1992. In May 1993, he married Donna Mae, his partner for 32 years. Pat was a hard worker all his life. He worked as a lab and x-ray technician for Dr. Leeds for 30 years.... Full story
Hello From the Chinook Senior Center There was a large, wonderful group of people who came and helped Donny & Marilyne Berger celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary here, last Saturday, August 2nd. Their lovely daughter, Tammy Jones got the whole thing planned, with beautiful décor and countless photos that we were all able to enjoy! It was a great turnout and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We are always honored to be a place where these things are possible. Our Center is a wonderful gathering place. The Chinook Lions Swim Team traveled to Choteau on Aug. 2–3 for the Montana Federation of Swimmers State Swim Meet, finishing the season with a wave of personal bests, record-breaking swims, and standout performances.
