Joanne was born to Sarah and Guy Riggin on April 5, 1936, in Havre, Montana. She grew up with a love for animals and was an accomplished trumpet player.
In 1951 she married Paul Wing. They had four children, Zane, Mark, Lisa, and Robyn. When they married they were both students in Bozeman.
In 1968 she and the children moved to Ashland, Oragon where she married Bob Selby in the early 70's. After a move to Roseburg, Oregon, Joanne achieved her RN degree at Umpqua Community College. She worked at various facilities, eventually ending up in Eugene, Oregon.
In Eugene, she bought her "little house by the lake" and moved her mother from Harlem, Montana to Eugene to care for her in her final years.
Joanne was an extremely generous and fun-loving woman. She never met a stranger. She loved to give dinner parties and always assured the perfect 'ambience'.
Her love of travel took her from Alaska to the Caribbean to Europe and back. She was active in her sorority and attended both the UFC and 1st Baptist churches. She loved the Scandinavian Festival and worked in the Gingerbread House.
Joanne died peacefully on March 23, 2025 in Eugene, Oregon of age related causes. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah and Guy Riggin, her brother Elmer Riggin, her daughter Robyn Wing Hainey, and both of her sons, Zane and Mark.
