Among the earliest and still-active member is Roger Jergeson, one of the most senior board members. Former board member, Deb Davies, did a lot of work to get it going. From...

I jumped the gun last week with my article about Banned Books Week! Banned Books Week is next week October 5-11. Banned Books Week was launched in 1982 in response to a sudden surge in the number of challenges to books in libraries, bookstores, and schools. Typically (but not always) held during the last week of September, the annual event highlights the value of free and open access to information and brings together the entire book community — librarians, educators, authors, publishers, booksellers, and readers of all types — in shared sup...

We extend our thanks to everyone who took the time to donate—your support plays a vital role in helping those in need. A special thank you goes to the LDS Church Ladies for organizing the canteen. Their homemade sandwiches, snacks, and treats were enjoyed by many and added a welcoming touch to the event. Thanks also to the Commercial Building for p...

On September 28, several people across the United States commemorated a day that no one wishes for. It was Gold Star Mother's and Family's Day, an interesting name for an honor that sounds attractive but really isn't. Receiving a gold star often suggests stellar performance, praise, or a mark of excellence for doing something well. Many of us likely remember earning a gold star for learning the alphabet or our math facts in elementary school. However, being a Gold Star Mother is an unwanted...
