Hello From the Chinook Senior Center It is nearly Halloween and we are cooking up a wonderfully, creative menu for that day! We will be having “Bones & Brains” aka: BabyBack Pork Ribs and Spaghetti. This is a special meal, that we are sure you will enjoy! Also, on that day, the Blaine County Library invites you to “Creep on Over for a Costume Fashion Show, Spooky Games and Delicious Delights” from 1:00-3:00. Our Center will then welcome all kiddos to come Trick or Treating at our Center, from 3:00-5:00, which gives us all the opportu...
Hello From the Chinook Senior Center Pinochle Marathon is in full swing, so, if you have not stopped by the Center to pick up your sheet or the notebook provided by Ruth Brown, please do so. Remember that all of your games need to be completed by 4-30-26. We are able to host your group here, with a small amount of notice. That is sometimes easier for people to navigate, because there are no stairs on the east side of our building. Sadly, it looks like we will need to postpone the Elk bugling/sight seeing tour until next fall, as the weather...
Hello From the Chinook Senior Center The weather has changed and taken away nearly all of our beautiful fall foliage. We certainly hope that you got an opportunity to get out there and enjoy the sights and smells of autumn. We had the wonderful opportunity to take many of our Volunteers, Delivery drivers & staff out to Montana Style Events for a very special appreciation luncheon on Saturday, Oct. 4th. We were fortunate to see all of the lovely golds of autumn in the trees along the river, as we made our journey. That is such a special place...
Hello From the Chinook Senior Center On Sunday, October 5th, weather permitting, we will gather here, at the Center to make a trip to the Missouri River, for the Elk bugling/sight seeing tour. We will be meeting here @ 1:30, to allow everyone to participate in worship, first. We likely won’t return until just after dark, as the elk usually come down around dusk. We will be packing a light lunch of sorts, so please, if you are planning on joining us, do call and let us know so that we can pack accordingly. If you have never seen or heard this e...
Hello From the Chinook Senior Center The days certainly are getting shorter! The trees will soon show all of their splendor, as the sunlight is shorter in duration. There are already bits of gold hues showing up in the cottonwoods. Autumn is such a beautiful time, so take it all in, before the colorful leaves all fall. Our Center may look at yet another Pic-Nic to check out all of the colors of autumn, before it gets too crisp to enjoy. We will announce this and also provide a sign-up sheet. We are watching the weather to see if it will permit...
Hello From the Chinook Senior Center We had a large gathering here, on Saturday, for Deb Olson’s family. There were lots of stories and lots of memories to share. This also gave us an opportunity to meet and visit with many of her family members. She is missed. We are hearing that people are finally able to get into the harvest fields and reap what they can, after an unprecedented amount of rain during the month of August. Our Ice Cream Social is coming up this Saturday, August 30th from 1:00-3:00. Please come and visit with friends, while enjo...
Hello From the Chinook Senior Center We had a delightful turnout for our second annual Mother’s Day brunch, held on Saturday, May 10th, despite all of the local happenings. It was so nice to see so many fine ladies here to be celebrated. Roxanne Townsend, our Chairwoman of the board, welcomed everyone and passed out a long- stemmed rose to each one. Tomi Simenson, from Shore’s Floral donated our beautiful flowers that were floating in our teacups and Charlene Lowen, from Havre had donated many crocheted doilies that her mother had made, to acce...
Hello From the Chinook Senior Center We have had several people joining us for our Tuesday movie day. We originally had these scheduled on Wednesdays, however, we were “Hi-Jacked” by the Pinochle Marathon players, so for now, we are still Tuesdays. We normally begin our movie immediately after lunch. We will be painting our pots on the first day of Spring, which is Thurs. March 20th. These pots will be dried for the week and we will then plant them the following week. There is a $5.00 charge for this activity. We will be creating a Zion Acr...

Hello From the Chinook Senior Center We are smack in the middle of Pinochle Marathon and many teams are getting together to get all of their games in prior to the end of April, which is fast approaching. Several of the participants just call us and get their groups together, here at the Center. It is a central location which most are able to get to as a gathering place. This also makes it easier to get all of their scores turned in, so that the tallies can be totaled. If you are interested in playing in this group for the fall start up, please...

FUN was had by all who attended! There were several teams in attendance for the 1st annual Murder Mystery weekend, whose purpose is to BOOST OUR LOCAL MERCHANTS. The theme for this one was the 1970's. Several participating merchants have told us how much fun they had participating in this one. A wonderful Prime Rib Dinner, with all of the trimmings was prepared by our friend, Doug Mitchell and a Death by Chocolate Dessert table was prepared by Ginger Hansen! A huge thanks to all participating...

Hello From the Chinook Senior Center We had a wonderful day last Saturday, and served a large number of people for our Indian Taco Feed, which was one of our fundraisers, to benefit our Center. The rising cost of nearly everything seems to be constantly ahead of us. Wow! Here we are in October! The changing of the leaves (which will hopefully last for more than a week). We have several fun things coming up in October. FOOT CLINIC is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 7th! If you need an appointment, please call us soon! 357-2648 WE HAVE A PIE SOCIAL,...
Hello From the Chinook Senior Center After a call to the Blaine County Health Department, last week, I discovered that prior to Mark Weber’s retirement, he had not gotten the information to Laura, to let her know that we had made arrangements for the Stepping On class to be held here. What I DID find out is that Laura has this class planned at the Library Meeting Room, each Wed. from 10:00-11:00 for several weeks. Please excuse this inadvertent mess-up with what Mark & I had planned prior to his retirement. Our Sugarbeet Festival is fast a...
Hello From the Chinook Senior Center We, once again, celebrated many things with many different people this past week. We learned how to paint wonderful, beautiful pictures on canvas, with combs, forks, q-tips, cotton balls, and sponges. We are all (every one) thrilled with our diverse and unique pieces. We are working on projects that we are calling “Chapter in Your Life” and that is a lot of fun, learning about others that we spend time with each day. As always, we have many and varied activities every day here at our wonderful Senior Cen...
Hello From the Chinook Senior Center Another great week of gatherings, here, with many & varied activities, was enjoyed by all. I always encourage everyone to try something new. I hope that if you are reading this, you will do the same. We had a very successful Foot Clinic schedule on Mon., Aug., 5th! Our schedule was full! As always, call us at 357-2648 and schedule for the next, monthly Foot Clinic. We are so very fortunate to reside in this small community of people who genuinely care about other people. I see this so often, while working...
Hello From the Chinook Social Senior Center We had the most wonderful presentation by 1st Bank of MT, yesterday, by both Melissa & Cheryl. They brought so much information regarding SAFE BANKING that we can all benefit from! They were super informative and gave out nice prizes, too. Thank you to them for helping to keep us safe in a world filled with fraud. We are looking forward to our Pinochle Marathon Party on Wed., May 15th @ 2:00. It is fun to see how everyone did and will be fun to gather them all together in one place. We are once again...
Hello From the Chinook Social Senior Center! We have had the most wonderful week! We have had a Diamond Dotz class conducted by Barb Ranstrom. Lots of people came and learned this super fun craft. I certainly enjoyed it, as well. Thank you, Barb, for spending your time and talents with us. We appreciate you! We also hosted several Pinochle Marathon classes this past week. Hello From the Chinook Social Senior Center! Here we go on another adventurous week, here at our wonderful Center! As of this writing, we have all had our Thanksgivings & counted many blessings. We have shared with neighbors, families & friends. We have laughed, we have eaten too much & we still have leftovers. I understand that our Community Thanksgiving Dinner, prepared lovingly, by those who spend the weeks & days ahead of time planning this, was very successful. I hope that you chose to dine in. That is what makes it special. Friendship &...
Hello From the Chinook Social Senior Center! We finally have high rise toilets & grab bars in the lady’s potties. Yay! Yay! Thank you to the Blaine County Commissioners & the budget which allowed for this to happen! When you see Shane Fox or Miles Hutton out & about, let them know that they are very much appreciated! We are slowly moving towards getting things up to snuff with necessary items for our mature guests. We had SO much fun yesterday, Halloween day. We, here at the Chinook Social Senior Center, comprised the entire Wizard of Oz t...
Hello From the Chinook Social Senior Center! Wow! What a great week we have had! We had the Presentation/Book Signing with Mark Vitaris (Author) of the Book: Borderlands (5 years in the making). That was a wonderful presentation! Sam French, Blaine County Museum Director was instrumental in getting him here, as his very first stop in the U.S. Yay Sam! Great Job! Chinook even came ahead of the Charlie Russell Museum in Great Falls, thanks to Sam French. I am partnering with Sam to continue a 2023 Off-Season Speaker Series. The following dates &...
Hello From the Chinook Social Senior Center! We have had another great week, here, so if you weren’t here, you should have been! Our meals have been phenomenal! Our Pinochle Marathon will be starting soon and we will have a sign-up sheet here, so stop in and sign up! Somehow, our article didn’t make it into last week’s paper, so I am letting you all know that our meal prices have increased from $5 to $7, regardless of age. This is our suggested donation price of a meal. We had to do this, due to the ever rising cost of food & it is very impor...

How nice to see all of these fine people come in & share memories with her children. We have put out a Facebook challenge to all area ranchers who might consider donating 50 pounds of beef to our non-profit Senior Center. The rising cost of food has been somewhat of a c...
