Chinook High Schools Applied Mathematics class have been busy building 1:12 scale miniature houses. Class instructor Andrew Linquist says the project emphasis is not only focused on the importance, but also the practicality of basic mathematical skills in the construction of a house. Students progress through several stages from pouring a actual concrete foundation to building trusses for the roof, all the while maintaining a composition notebook to include the calculations for each stage.
