The Whitlash School, pictured here, last had students in 2011-2012. The two buildings facing the camera were part of the Border Patrol facility turned over to the school board in the early 1970's. Building to the far right of the photo housed the fourth through eighth grades, the center building was for kindergarten through third grade and the building at left was the teacherage. Area students are now bused to the elementary and high school in Chester.
