Grandma Moses described her paintings (an example shown here) as 'old-timey.' Often stark in nature her works relied on subdued colors to create a certain visual atmosphere. Larry Wisch knew of the mural in the Sargent house and said, "Something about it reminded me of the paintings that Grandma Moses did."
