Trailer tails are devices attached to the rear of a semi-trailer to divert wind away from the trailer and reduce backward pull on the trailer. Manufacturers of trailer tails and trailer skirts (the long plastic or metal skirts attached to the bottom of trailers) say the combination of the two devices can reduce fuel use about 8-12%.
