Jamieson Motors to host December Business After Hours

December 9, 2015

Jamieson Motors will host the Chinook Area Chamber's December Business After Hours this Thursday. The monthly events provide opportunities for local business and organizational members to welcome guests to see and understand their products and services.

The dealership's founder, James R. Jamieson, operated a welding/machine shop in Hogeland. When a fire destroyed the shop he moved his family to Chinook, rented space in a livery stable-turned Chevy dealership and reopened his machine shop there. Shortly, in 1942, Jamieson bought the building and got a franchise with Chrysler-Dodge. In 1960 the elder Jamieson retired and since 1991 his grandson, Jay Jamieson, and grandson-in-law, Fred Langford, have owned and operated the business.

The elder Jamieson also secured a Case dealership, expanding the business to sell and support farm equipment. In the mid-1960's the Jamieson family got out of the Case tractor business

Fred "Tuzz" Langford said recently in an interview, "The fourth generation of the family is still working in the business." The vehicle dealership and service shop has been recognized with several statewide awards celebrating its enduring role in the community.

The family business has been a strong supporter of community events both in Chinook and around the region. The business operates by the motto displayed on the wall for more than 35 years: "Our aim is to simply treat our customers the way we ourselves like to be treated." Langford added, "What matters to our customers, matters to us." The motto and business philosophy help explain the company's support for community activities and longtime loyal customers.

Giving a brief overview of the Business After Hours plans, Langford said, "We'll be serving chili and other refreshments and there will be door prizes. The announced hours are 6-8 p.m., but if you can stay up past your normal bed time, we encourage you to come by and stay a while longer."

The owners and staff of Jamieson Motors invite everyone to come and visit during the Business After Hours on Thursday, December 10. The dealership is located at the corner of Highway 2 and Pennsylvania.

Enjoy a break from winter, learn about the local "Dodge Boys" and do some meeting and greeting.
