Roy Stone is new Bear Paw Battlefield Park Ranger

Roy Stone is a new Park Ranger at the Bear Paw Battlefield. The Kentucky native began his post on June 1. Stone's career goal is to work as a law enforcement officer with the National Park Service. He will begin training for seasonal law enforcement officers in January, 2017.

Roy Stone began his new duties on June 1 as a Park Ranger at the Bear Paw Battlefield. A native of central Kentucky and a Navy veteran, Stone said he finds the people in north central Montana "very friendly and helpful." He added, "They remind me a lot of how nice people are back home, except folks here talk different." The new ranger has a recognizable drawl that indicates he's spent time somewhere in the south.

Stone said, "Since I was a little kid, I've wanted to be in law enforcement with the National Park Service." His family owns a pharmacy back in the Lexington, Kentucky region, wher...
