Banned Books Week is coming soon!!!! Be sure to stop in next week and see our Banned Books display. Be a rebel and check out a Banned Book!

Mark your calendars for Thursday December 1st. That is the date for the 25th Annual Hassle Free Christmas Program. If you are interested in doing something for our Hassle Free Program or you know someone who may be interested in doing a presentation, let us know. It is hard to believe that this will be the 25th year for this program!

Wednesday Movies have begun. We will show a movie every Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. The movie today will be “The Lady in the Van”, which runs for 1 hour and 44 minutes. Everyone is welcome to attend and refreshments will be served. “Little Red Wagon” will be the movie next Wednesday.

Library staff will be starting beginner computer classes this month. Monday, September 26th we will have a Facebook class from 6-7 p.m. You must either have attended the first class or have a working e-mail address in order to set up a Facebook account. Class size is limited. Please call or stop into the library or the Senior Center to register for the classes.

Youth programs have resumed for the school year. Story Time is Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Kids of all ages and abilities are welcome to attend. LEGO Club is Thursday afternoons from 3:30-4:30 p.m. and is open to kids in grades K-6. The library will be partnering with the Plant a Seed Read program at the Sugarbeet Festival. Be sure to stop by our booth and see what it’s all about and find out what the library has offer and register for our door prizes. The library will be closing at 4:00 p.m. Friday September 23rd, so staff can supervise the train derby building workshop, which will be located next to Shore’s Floral. Kelsey will be doing a Story Time and craft Saturday at 2:00 p.m. on Main Street next to Shore’s Floral. Middle School Hangout for September will be Tuesday September 27th at 3:30 p.m. and is open to kids in grades 6-8.

We have one new movie this week, The Meddler, starring Susan Sarandon and Rose Byrne. We have 2 non-fiction books ready to go this week. “Killing the Rising Sun” by Bill O’Reilly tells how America vanquished World War II Japan. “The Year of Voting Dangerously” by Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Maureen Dowd looks at the most bizarre, disruptive, and divisive presidential race in modern history. “The Season of Seas” by Gillian Anderson is book 3 of the Earthend Saga. “The Wish” is a new Amish novel by Beverly Lewis. “Pirate” by Clive Cussler is a Sam and Remi Fargo adventure. “The Risen” by Ron Rash is a suspenseful and evocative tale of two brothers whose lives are altered irrevocably by the events of one long-ago summer. Can a grown woman- a wife and a mother- run away from home? The unexpected answer can be found in “Leave Me” by Gayle Forman.

There is always something going on at the library. Check us out on Facebook or look us up on our website at http:www.blainecountylibrary.org for up to date information about what’s going on!
