Suicide Awareness walk planned on the Big Flat

September 21, 2016

September is Suicide Prevention month. In conjunction with that, a walk will once again be planned on the Big Flat, September 24th. The walk will begin at the Saint Thomas Big Flat Catholic Church with registration at 8:30 a.m. before the walk begins.

For those wishing to leave their vehicles in Turner, buses will be leaving the Turner Park at 8:10 a.m. If you wish to catch a ride to the St. Thomas Catholic Church to begin the walk and register.. For those who do not wish to walk, or are unable to, you are welcome to use slow moving four wheelers, side-by-sides, or golf carts.

The walk will entail a 9 mile journey from the St. Thomas Catholic Church on into Turner. The ending point will be the Turner Old Gym.

At 2:00 p.m. Guest speaker, Clint Malarchuk, “The Cowboy Goalie” will speak at the Turner high school gymnasium. He is a retired Canadian hockey player who will share his inspiration and experiences. Please plan to listen to this incredible speaker.

The goal in doing this event is to raise awareness and help prevent other families from dealing with the devastation and heartbreak caused by suicide. Donations will be welcome, but not required, and all proceeds will go to further education and to help raise awareness in our schools and communities, including this event. If anyone has any further questions, they may phone Shawna or Ella Billmayer at 406-379-2520 or 406-262-5222.

Please come join the Billmayer family in this awareness walk as they continue to mourn the loss of their beloved son, brother, and grandson, Tristan Wayne Billmayer.

Keep all the families that have been affected by the devastation of suicide in your hearts especially during the month of September as it’s been proclaimed Suicide Prevention Month.
