Stop by the library this week to see the wonderful new children’s books on display! These high quality picture, chapter and nonfiction books were acquired through a grant from The Pilcrow Foundation with support from the Friends of the Library and donations from Mrs. Laura Ackerman and Mr. Hal Berenson. We are so excited to have these new additions to our children’s collection and to share them with you. Refreshments will be served.

“Let the Good Times Roll at Your Library” as we celebrate “Love Your Library Month.” Each time you check out materials your name will be entered to win one free hour of bowling for you and your family/friends generously donated by the Harlem VFW. Don’t miss the Mardi Gras Fun Night Feb. 28 from 6:00-7:30 P.M. All ages are welcome! Wear green, purple or gold and join us for an evening of fun, food, games and more!

The library will be closed Feb. 20 in observance of Presidents” Day. The regular meeting of the library board of trustees will be Feb. 22, 4:15 P.M. in the library meeting room.

The latest novel from Jack Higgins is “The Midnight Bell.” In Northern Ireland a son swears revenge on the drunken criminal who killed his mother in a car crash. In London the Prime Minister’s private army have just defeated a deadly al-Qaeda operation. But, they receive a warning that they have only made al-Qaeda stronger. In Washington, D.C., a frustrated CIA agent decides to implement his antiterrorism plan, even though the President has not granted permission. The ripples from these events meet and overlap creating havoc.

Sara Blaedel is the author of “The Forgotten Girls.” The body of an unknown woman is found in the forest. With a unique scar her identification should be easy, but no one has reported her missing. Louise Rick, commander of the missing persons department, releases her photo and a woman comes forward recognizing the woman as Lisemette, a child she cared for at a mental institution. Like many of the children there, she was abandoned and became known as “the forgotten girl.” But Louise soon uncovers that Lisemette had a twin and both girls were issued death certificates thirty years ago.

Two books for parents are “Untangled: Guiding Teenage Girls Through the Seven Transitions into Adulthood” by Lisa Damour, Ph.D and “Masterminds Wingmen: Helping Our Boys Cope with Schoolyard Power, Locker-Room Tests, Girlfriends, and the New Rules of Boy World” by Rosalind Wiseman.

Other new titles include “Accidentally in Love” by Cathy Woodman, “Meantime” by Katharine Noel, and “The Mistress” by Danielle Steel.

A new science fiction novel is “Dominion” in the Chronicles of the Invaders series by John Connolly and Jennifer Ridyard.

Remember the library has a great play space for children and their families. We have wooden blocks and other toys, puppets, and the new “I Spy” table. Make it a point to spend time at your library.
