Lilliane Thompson, 84, passed away on Sunday, March 5th due to complications with pneumonia and cancer at Benefis Hospital in Great Falls, MT. Lillian, better known as Lil, was a very jolly person who always had a smile on her face. She enjoyed shooting pool, dancing and playing cards. She also enjoyed traveling as she had gone to Hawaii 7 times and loved the relaxing time she had on those trips. Lil was also a very talented seamstress and loved to spend time doing crafts. Lil was born October 30, 1932 in Coderre, SK, Canada, to Frederick and Marie Louise Poirier. When Lil left home she went to work in Calgary, AB where she met Earl Longden and was married. Together they had two boys, David and Bruce Longden. She later divorced and moved to Seattle, WA to live with her sister Irene and brother-in-law Roger Gauthier. There she met and married Shorty Thompson. After her husband’s passing Lil decided to move to Chinook to be closer to her sister Irene. Lil was preceded in death by her parents Frederick and Marie Louise Poirier, brother Henry (Josephine) Poirier, sisters Terry (John) Georzen, Yvette Duncombe and brothers-in-laws; Roger Gauthier, Edward Lorrain, and Cyril Gauthier. She is survived by her two sons, David (Elizabeth) Longden, stepson Robert Robertson, James River, AB; Bruce (Diane) Longden, and grandchildren Karen, Jason of Cochrane AB, brother’s Rene (Lorna) Poirier, Sundre, AB, Louis (JoAnne) Poirier, Keremoo, BC, sisters Jeanne Gauthier, Gravelbourg, SK, Irene Gauthier, Chinook, MT, Louise Lorrain, Assinaboia, SK, brother-in-law Eddie Duncombe, Calgary, AB and many nieces and nephews. There will be a graveside memorial in Chinook at a later date. Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook is in charge of arrangements. Condolences for the family may be left at edwardsfuneralhomemt.com.
