Park Board says farewell to Thom MacLean

July 5, 2017

The Park Board would like to thank Thom Maclean for his service on the Parkboard.

Thom was appointed in 2002 to represent the city on the Park Board. In 2005 when Mike Harding resigned as president, Thom agreed to accept the position of president.

Little did he know that he would spearhead the Board for the next 15 years. Thom was the longest sitting president on the Park Board since it was formed in 1979.

We will miss him as he was always willing to research and take part in our projects for the park. Under his guidance we had new sidewalks put in, repainted the Scout house, helped monetarily with the city tennis courts and swimming pool covers.

We also modernized our sprinkler systems in the Sweet Park and the Centennial Park.

We appreciate all the time he spent on the Park Board and wish him well in his next move.
