Governor Bullock appoints local residents to serve on State Committees

The following have been appointed by Governor Steve Bullock.

Montana Alfalfa Seed Committee

Ernest Johnson, Chinook. Qualification: Actively engaged in the growing of alfalfa seed within the state, deriving a substantial portion of their income from handling, packing, shipping, buying or selling alfalfa seed, or acting as a broker or factor of alfalfa seed. Johnson is an alfalfa farmer from Blaine County.

·John Mehling, Hardin. Qualification: Actively engaged in the growing of alfalfa seed within the state and the rearing of alfalfa leaf-cutting bees. Mehling is an alfalfa farmer from Big Horn County.

Cavin Steiger, Forsyth. Qualification: Actively engaged in the growing of alfalfa seed within the state, deriving a substantial portion of their income from handling, packing, shipping, buying or selling alfalfa seed, or acting as a broker or factor of alfalfa seed. Steiger is an alfalfa farmer from Rosebud County.


Invasive Species Council

Dennis Longknife, Harlem. Qualification: Representative of the Fort Belknap Indian Community. Longknife is the Climate Change Coordinator for the Fort Belknap Indian Community.

Laurie Shafer, Poplar. Qualification: Representative of the Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes. Shafer is a Water Coordinator and Specialist for the Fort Peck Tribes.

Alec Underwood, Missoula. Qualification: Representative of a Wildlife Organization. Underwood is the Western Field Representative for the Montana Wildlife Federation.

Daryl Wright, Box Elder. Qualification: Representative of the Chippewa Cree Tribe. Wright is a member of the Chippewa Cree Business Committee with expertise in the field of water resources.
