The Chinook Sugarbeeter and Harlem Wildcat wrestling teams made their way to the Rimrock Auto Arena in Billings this weekend for the All-Class Montana State High School Wrestling Championships.

The Sugarbeeters took six wrestlers to Billings while the Wildcats had four.

The Sugarbeeters maintained their position as one of the premier wrestling programs in all of Class C after scoring 43 points, placing two on the podium and finishing second in the Class C team standings.

The Sugarbeeters had four wrestlers combine to win a total of 11 matches with nine of those coming by way of pinfall.

Sophomore Reubin Swenson went 5-1 over the course of the two day tournament winning four matches by pin including the consolation final where he redeemed his only loss.

Freshman Rebecca Stroh made history while in Billings beginning with her opening match where she pinned Tjo Friis of Anaconda in the first ever all girl match at the state tournament. Stroh went 3-3 and finished sixth in the 103 pound weight class to become the first girl ever to finish on the podium.

Harlem's Curtis Humphreys also wrestled his way to a podium finish winning four matches by pinfall en route to a fifth place finish at 285.

Swenson began the tournament with pin of Kayden Howser of Whitehall in 1:49. In the quarterfinal match against Austin Cooper of Thompson Falls he suffered his only setback a loss by pinfall at 1:32.

Swenson bounced back in a big way and began with a 14-6 Major Decision win over Jadon Lamb of Broadwater/Townsend. Swenson then found himself down 11-5 after the first period in his consolation third round match against the Northern B top seed out of Chouteau, James Slaughter.

"We had a stern conversation in between periods and he responded really well," said coach Perry Miller. As the second period began, a focused Swenson took control of the match and pinned Slaughter :51 seconds into the second.

Swenson then pinned Nick Workmen (Jefferson/Boulder) in 3:39 to advance to the consolation final where he faced Cooper again. This time Swenson was the aggressor and pinned Cooper in 2:13 to finish third.

Stroh began her historic run with a pin over Tjo Friis of Anaconda in the first ever all girl match. She then added another win by pinfall in her consolation second round match over Koholo Tooves of Wolf Point and a 5-1 decision over Emma Brown of Jefferson Boulder to enter the medal rounds.

Stroh was defeated in the fifth/sixth place match but became the first girl ever to place at the state B/C wrestling tournament state meet.

Humphreys went 4-2 in Billings winning all four by pinfall to finish fifth at 285 pounds.

Humphreys began with a pin of Trevor Yuhas of Great Falls Central (0:52), he later added a pin of Chris Anderson (St. Ignatius, 0:20), and a pin of Ethan Hood (Columbus/Absorkee, 2:00).
