As the Temperature rises so do local rivers and streams

April 18, 2018

The ice has gone off this section of the Milk River just south of Chinook on the Clear Creek Road as it rapidly rose over the weekend. Ice jams continue to cause problems throughout the Milk River basin as spring temperatures have finally arrived. Battle Creek, Lodge Creek as well as several other streams are flowing over their banks and along with heavy runoff from snow melt at the higher elevations has caused flood warnings to be posted all along the Hi-line.
