Rosalie M. Robinson

August 22, 2018

Rosalie M. Robinson, 93, of Billings, passed away Thursday August 16 at St. John’s Garden Court, where she had resided since April of 2012. Rosalie enjoyed over 6 years of excellent care that the staff of St. John’s Lutheran Ministries had provided her.

She was born October 30, 1924, to Max and Iola Blatt in Chinook, MT. Her father died in a mining accident in 1932, leaving behind her mother and six siblings. She was raised and schooled in Chinook until she married John A. Robinson in 1941 at the age of 16. She worked many jobs – ran a café, worked in a hardware store, a mercantile, and ended her career working as a flag person on a construction job near Garrison, MT. She and John farmed in Phillips and Blaine counties until moving to Garrison, MT in 1971 where they both worked construction and bought a small farm. John preceded Rosalie in death in 1988. She stayed on the farm in Garrison until 1994 when she moved to Billings to be closer to family. She was a member of American Lutheran Church, and loved the friends she met through church and cards. Everything stopped for a pinochle game and she usually belonged to three clubs at the same time. She also loved quilting, and family members have several of her quilts.

Rosalie was preceded in death by her husband John; a baby daughter Bonnie Rae in 1946; daughter Joanne in 2004; grandson Page Guertzgen in 2016; brother Sheldon; and three sisters Lilly, Jennie, and Mollie. She is survived by her daughters Carol (Lawrence) Barber of Billings and Billie Lou Guertzgen of St. George, UT; sister Bonnie Cox of Oklahoma; one granddaughter; three grandsons; and ten great grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 23rd at American Lutheran Church in Billings. Burial will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 24th at Kuper Memorial Cemetery in Chinook, MT. Arrangements by Cremation & Funeral Gallery.
