Blaine County Library

September 5, 2018

We would like to welcome our new Clerk, Kadie Dahl this week. Stop in and say hello to Kadie and if you haven't met our new Assistant Librarian, Kelsey Buhmann Brown, say hello to her as well!

This week we will be participating in the Sugarbeet Festival by having a StoryWalk on Saturday. What is a StoryWalk? In a nutshell, a StoryWalk is two books that have been dismantled, laminated and presented page by page on a trail, bike path, or in store windows. The StoryWalk is a way for families to read together outside, promoting literacy and fitness. StoryWalks were created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle and Pedestrian Coalition and the Kellogg Hubbard Library. Blaine County Library did a StoryWalk as part of our Summer Reading Program. This time the StoryWalk will be a self-guided walk for families to do together. It will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and run through the afternoon. We will also have a couple drawings to sign up for and information on upcoming events and services available at the library. In keeping with the theme of the Sugarbeet Festival, we have a book display of books with Time in the title!

Fall programs begin today with the movie Against a Crooked Sky at 1:00 p.m. in the library meeting room. Refreshments will be served and everyone is welcome to attend. Me Before You, 8 Seconds and On Golden Pond will be the movies for the rest of September. If anyone has a request for a movie, just let us know. You can also put in a request with Marlene at the Senior Center. Story Time will begin Tuesday September 11th at 10:30 a.m. Middle School Hangout will also be held September 11th at 3:30 p.m. and is open to kids in grades 6 through 8. LEGO Club will begin September 13th at 3:30 p.m. and is open to kids in grades K through 6.

We have a couple non-fiction books ready to go this week. "A Future of Faith: The Path of Change in Politics and Society" by Pope Francis with Dominic Wolton is a series of twelve fascinating and timely conversations revolving around the political, cultural, and religious issues dominating communication and conflict around the world. "Girl Wash Your Face: Stop Believing the Lies About Who You Are So You Can Become Who You Were Meant to Be" by Rachel Hollis shows you how to live with passion and hustle--and how to give yourself grace without giving up. New fiction this week includes: "Last Girl Gone' by J.G. Hetherton, "Not That I Could Tell" by Jessica Stawser, "Summer on the River" by Marcia Willett and "Silent Hearts" by Montana author, Gwen Florio.

There is always something going on at the library. Check us out on Facebook or look us up on our website at http: http://www.blainecountylibrary.org for up to date information about what's going on.
