Chinook Lions, Harlem Swim Teams shine at Roundup Invitational, head to Plentywood next

Harlem's Shayne Stiffarm had a fantastic weekend in Roundup. Stiffarm won the 11-12 Junior Boys 200 Meter Individual Medley as well as the 50 Meter Breaststroke. Stiffarm finished second in the 11-12 50 Meter Butterfly and the cumulative effort earned him the divisions High Point Trophy.

The Chinook Lions and Harlem Swim Teams were in Roundup this past weekend as the summer swim seasom works its way through the schedule.

Both teams excelled in the pool with a number of swimmers winning individual events as well as a couple of High Point trophies.

The Harlem Swim Team was lead by the efforts of Shayne Stiffarm. His efforts in the pool over the course of the two day meet earned him the 11-12 Junior Boys High Point.

Stiffarm won the 200 Meter Individual Medly by completing the four disciplines in 3:02.93 to win the event. Stiffarm also added a first place finish in the 50 Meter Breaststroke, winning the event with a time of :39.89. Stiffarm finished the meet with a runner up finish in the 50 Meter Butterfly, touching the wall in :34.55.

Chinook Lions Katie Tilleman also took home a High Point torphy sweeping all three of her individual enets in the 9-10 Midget Girls Division.


Tilleman is undefeated this season and began the weekend by capturing gold in the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of :36.04. She later added a first place finish in the 50 Meter Breaststroke, swimming the two lengths of the pool in :48.31 to win the event.

Tilleman finished her time in the pool at the Roundup Invitational with a win in the 50 Meter Backstroke with an effort of :44.58.

Hallie Neibauer also had a great weekend in Roundup. Neibauer won the 11-12 Junior Girls 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of :33.15. She also finished in front of the pack in the 100 Meter Freestyle event, touching the pad in 1:14.65 for her second win of the weekend. Neibauer finished second in the 50 Meter Butterfly.


Harlem's Alaynee Hawley performed very well in the 15-19 Senior Girl Division at the Roundup meet.

Hawley won the 100 Meter Freestyle with an effort of 1:14.80 and earned a pair of runner up finishes in the 50 Meter Freestyle (:32.74) and the 400 Meter Freestyle (5:59.92).

Chinook's Daniel Tilleman earned a pair of first place finishes in the 11-12 Junior Boys Division. Tilleman was first to the wall in the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of :30.89. Later his effort of :1:11.12 in the 100 Meter Freestyle was best in the field. Tilleman added a third place finish in the 50 Meter Breaststroke (:46.07) to complete his swim in Roundup.

Chinook's Kohen Sullivan also had a fantastic week in the pool. Sullivan earned a pair of runner up finishes in the 100 Meter Freestyle (1:13.05) and the 50 Meter Backstroke (:40.25). The highlight of his weekend came in the 200 Meter Freestyle where he won the event with a time of 2:54.89.


In the 13-14 Intermidiate Girls Division, Chinook's Britton Elliot was solid. Elliot finished second in the 50 Meter Freestyle (:31.76) as well as in the 100 Meter Freestyle (1:12.83). She also finished fifth in the 100 Meter Backstroke.

The Chinook Lions 11-12 Junior Girls relay teams also did well. The quarter included two girls swimming up an age group as Katie Tilleman and Jeni Mord joined Hallie Neibauer and Lori Mord in both the Medley and Freestyle Relays.

The girls finished second in both events completing the Freestyle Relay in 2:31.89 and the Medley Relay in 2:56.25.

Both teams will head east to Plentywood this weekend and then take the following week off for the Fourth of July weekend as well as the Blaine County Fair and Chinook All-Class Reunion.

They will return to the pool July 13-14 at the Lewistown Invitational as they prepare for the home stretch and look to qualify for the postseason.

The Divisional Swim Meet will be in Scobey July 27-18. State will be the folloowing week, August 3-4 in Sidney.
