Don't forget this week is Banned Books Week. Be sure to stop in and look at the Banned Books display. Be a rebel and check one out today! Free People Reading Freely Book Club started Banned Books Week by holding our first meeting after the summer break. We will be reading two books by Jamie Ford, who spoke at our library earlier this month. Stop in and pick up a copy of Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet or Love and Other Consolation Prizes. Participants can choose one or the other or both to read before the next meeting.

Since 1987, Library Card Sign-up Month has been held each September to mark the beginning of the school year. During the month, the American Library Association and libraries unite in a national effort to ensure every child signs-up for their own library card. Throughout the school year, public librarians and library staff will assist parents and caregivers with saving hundreds of dollars on educational resources and services for students. From free access to STEAM programs/activities, educational apps, in-person and virtual homework help, technology workshops to the expertise of librarians, a library card is one of the most cost effective back to school supplies available.

We have a nice selection of new books available this week from some of our patron's favorite authors. If you are looking for a thriller we have Smoke Screen by Iris Johansen, A Better Man by Louise Penny and Good Girl by Michael Robotham. Other books ready this week include The Dark Side by Danielle Steel, Life and Other Inconveniences by Kristan Higgins and The Oyster Sewing Circle by Susan Wiggs.

There is always something going on at the library. Check us out on Facebook or look us up on our website at http:www.blainecountylibrary.org for up to date information about what's going on!
