Edward Thomas Filesteel, ʔᴐᴐʔohuh (Filesteel), born July 16, 1961, passed away at Beaver Creek, MT Friday, August 7, 2020. He passed away doing one of his many loves, riding his iron horse.

Edward Thomas Filesteel, Jr., also known as "Tom" was born on July 16, 1961 to Edward Joseph Filesteel Sr. and Faye Dean Plumage. He was a beloved resident of Hays and Fort Belknap, Accomplished Team Roper, Champion Pool Player and King of the Hi-Line, Rancher, strong Gros-Ventre advocate, Heavy Equipment Operator, Member of the Fort Belknap Tribal Housing Authority Board of Commissioners Gros-Ventre Representative, as well as on the Amerind Board of Commissioners Tribes Protecting Tribes.

His grandchildren were his pride and joy. His horses were strong and very beautiful. He enjoyed his ranch and thrived on making it the very best it could be and always to the highest standards. He was a model of honor, integrity and ethics for his children. He instilled in them to always perform everything with full compassion and completion. He loved to feed all of his family and have celebrations and gatherings where everyone can visit and laugh together. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren dance at pow-wows and loved to have a beautiful camp at the Sundance. Tom was a very charismatic, loving and humorous man that always left you with a smile.


Tom met the love of his life, Mitcheleen, in 1980 at Crow Fair. 40 years around the sun and 39 together as one. To this union, three beautiful children were born: Emma Rochelle on September 2, 1981, Cameron Thomas on November 20, 1985, and their baby girl, Sandy, born October 7th, 1992.


Ed is survived by his wife, Mitcheleen Filesteel. Children: Emma (Dalbert) Begay, Camaron Filesteel, and Sandy Filesteel. Eleven grandchildren: Dalray Ashkii Begay, Mitchrena Nizhoni Begay, Dain Kee Begay, Shiloh Arleen Grant, Skylee Lorraine Grant, Elihas Filesteel, Maycnn First Raised, Caleb Filesteel, Jayven Lewis, Stace LeBeau and D'Kauri Blackman, numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his Aunts: Helen "Tuffy" Striker-Bell, Dr. Lenore Stiffarm, Susie (Joe) Brown, Jolene Buck, Diane Buck and Bebiana Capture. Uncles: Matt Stiffarm, Andy (Charlene) Cole, Swede (Leta) Cole, Curley & Ronnie Cole, Med (Terry) Buck, Duane (Linda) Buck, Frank (Marge) Plumage and John Plumage. Brothers: John "Muggy" (Marlis) Filesteel, Kenny Hawley, John (Nancy) Stiffarm, AJ (Alpha "Deanie") Stiffarm, Merlin Yellowtail, Thomas (Amy) Yellowtail and James "Bubsy" (Cheryl)Stiffarm, George (Stormy) Brockie. Sisters: Kate (Larry) Filesteel-LeBeau, Jackie Yellowtail, Denise (Chuck) Stiffarm-Werk, Veronica (Wes) Dillon and Lyolene Dillon, Clarena Brockie, Lorraine Brockie, Susie Brockie, Leslie (Dave) Racine, Helena Brockie, Dr. Theresa Brockie, Angie and Kimberly Brockie

Ed was preceeded in death by his father, Ed "Foxy" Filesteel Sr., adopted parents, Hank and Ruby Brockie, paternal grandparents, Katie and Thomas Filesteel, maternal grandmother, Florence Longknife Capture, Uncles Louis (Carol) Stiffarm, Carl Stiffarm, Benedict (Ice) Striker, Billy Cole, Sac Cole, Winky Cole, Butter Cole. Aunts: Ramona (Albert) Cliff, Dee Striker. Sister, Monica Dillon. And Brother Clifford "Bushy" Cole

Tom had many friends dear to his heart that he considered family...too numerous to list...please know that he loved all his people with all his heart. The family thanks you for your attendance and appreciates all the Prayers and Heartfelt Condolences. Due to Covid-19 Tom's Feed will be at a later date.
