The library will leave the Wi-Fi on when the library is closed beginning September 1 to assist with a greater need to access the Internet because of the COvid-19 pandemic. Users may obtain the password at the front desk in the library. Please remember the library abides by Copyright Law. If there is any illegal activity using the library Wi-Fi we will be forced to shut the Wi-Fi off after hours.
The August Book Challenge is to read a book set in another time. When you complete the challenge please contact the library so your name may be entered to win a gift certificate from a local business. The challenge for September is to read a book written before you were born.
The Book Club will resume in September, but we will meet online using Skype. The new book “There, There” by Tommy Orange may be picked up September 1-4. The first discussion will be September 14, 4 P.M. at the link join.skype.com/OBq8EUM6IEwF. The link will be posted on the library website http://www.harlempubliclibrary.org or on our Facebook page.

New selections to check out this week include “This Is How I Lied” by Heather Gudenkauf. Twenty-five years ago the body of teenager Eve Knox was found in the caves near Grotto, Iowa, by her best friend , Maggie, and her sister, Nola. With insufficient evidence the case went cold. Now Maggie is a detective in Grotto and a new piece of evidence emerges, forcing the case to be reopened. As Maggie investigates, secrets emerge; but someone in town will do anything to keep the truth hidden.
“Ghosts of Harvard” is written by Francesca Serritella. Cady Archer lost her brother, Eric, a troubled genius, when he took his own life by leaping from his dorm room at Harvard. Now she has decided to attend Harvard to try to understand her brother’s actions. Using a blue notebook filled with Eric’s scribbles Cady tries to uncover clues about Eric; but as she investigates she too begins to hear voices.
After the end of WWII in the English village of Chawton, a group of people band together to save the cottage where Jane Austen wrote or revised her books. Although very different each member of the group shares their love for one of England’s finest novelists. Rallying together they form “The Jane Austen Society” written Natalie Jenner.
Other new novels include “The German Heiress” by Anika Scott, “Have You Seen Me” by Kate White, and “Tom Clancy Firing Point” by Mike Maden.
