Multiple Scholarships Available for Area Graduates

March 17, 2021

It’s scholarship season, and the Counselor at Chinook High School, Fay Friede announced that several scholarships are available to graduates of Blaine County high schools. Because each scholarship has its own requirements and application deadline, potential applicants are advised to read carefully so as not to miss any important funding opportunities.

While encouraging graduating seniors to get those applications in, Friede reminds all Blaine County students that they may not win every scholarship they apply for, but they most certainly can’t win a scholarship that they don’t apply for.

“There are obviously thousands of scholarships. Some of these are memorials; others are specific to a degree area, like the American Garage Automotive Scholarship. The Blaine County Cruisers also started a county-wide scholarship last year for students going into a two-year technical program,” Friede said.

With some scholarship amounts starting at $500 and going up from there, the local awards include those listed with their respective due dates:

• Lloyd Sweet Scholarship March 1

• American Garage Automotive Scholarship April 1

• Justin Overcast Memorial Scholarship April 1

• Jesse James Foundation April 1

• Blaine County Cruisers April 1

• John W & Evelyn Vogt

Memorial Scholarship April 10

• Dawn Marie Zellmer Medical Field April 15

• Dawn Marie Zellmer Memorial

Citizenship Scholarship April 15

• Chinook Lions’ Club April 15

• Red Rock Power May 1

• Presbyterian Church Scholarship May 1

“From that list, The Blaine County Cruisers, American Garage, and Dawn Marie Zellmer Medical Field Scholarships are all county-wide,” Friede explained. “Others in our area include the Montana Seed Show Scholarship, Big Flat Electric Scholarship, Triangle Communications Scholarship, and Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship.”

Anyone with questions about these or other scholarships is encouraged to call Friede at Chinook High School. She can be reached at 357-2454.
