Blaine County Library

March 24, 2021

The Blaine County Library Board of Trustees will hold their regular monthly meeting Monday March 29th at 4:00 p.m.

We have two non-fiction books available this week. “The Inevitable: Dispatches on the Right to Die” by Katie Engelhart focuses on six people representing different aspects of the right to die debate. “The Ultimate Meal Prep Cookbook” from America’s Test Kitchen provides 25 weekly plans. Each plan has a grocery list for a week of meals with no waste and simple, smart strategies for cooking on your schedule.

New fiction this week includes three books set during World War II. “The Things We Cannot Say” by Kelly Rimmer is a WWII novel that follows a woman’s urgent search for answers to a family mystery that uncovers truths about herself that she never expected. It is an unshakable reminder of the devastation when truth is silenced…and how it can take a lifetime to find our voice before we learn to trust it. “Where Daffodils Bloom” by Leya Delray is based on the true story of a WWII bride. “The Rose Code” by Kate Quinn is a heart-stopping World War II story of three female code breakers at Bletchley Park and the spy they must root out after the war is over. “We Begin at the End” by Chris Whitaker is an extraordinary novel about two kinds of families - the ones we are born into and the ones we create. “Win” by Harlan Coben is a thrilling story that shows what happens when a dead man’s secrets fall into the hands of vigilante antihero—drawing him down a dangerous road.

The display table for March has an assortment of green books to choose from. Luck is Finding the Perfect Book! March is also Women’s History Month, and we have a display of books to celebrate the brave, bold and fearless women in history.

After School Hangout for grades 7 and 8 is on Mondays at 3:30. Story Time for ages 6 and under is Tuesdays at 10:30. After School Hangout for grades 5 and 6 is Tuesdays at 3:30. LEGO Club for grades Kindergarten and up is Thursdays at 3:30. Masks are still required for anyone age 5 and over during all programs. Hand washing will be required upon entering the building. There will be social distancing where applicable. There will be no food or drinks during programs.

We now have 2 iPads available for checkout for a 14-day checkout, in addition to the 3 hotspots.

Blaine County Library is still following CDC guidelines for preventing the spread of COVID. We are currently under a mask mandate implemented by the Blaine County Commissioners after the Governor lifted the statewide mandate. The library’s Pandemic/Epidemic Policy gives the library board the authority to continue requiring masks, handwashing and social distancing until the CDC no longer recommends those measures to prevent the spread of COVID, and the library will be following that policy.
