Students of the Month Named at Meadowlark Elementary
April 28, 2021
Every month, the teachers at Meadowlark Elementary School in Chinook select a student from each of their classrooms who has exhibited exemplary behavior. The BEETS acronym helps to guide their selection as they seek out students who Be respectful, Exercise responsibility, Engage in learning, Try their best, and Stay safe.
For the month of March, the two Kindergarten teachers, Mrs. Gibson and Mrs. Hasler-Elliot selected Chloe Beck and Peyson Truax. According to Mrs. Gibson, Chloe is working hard and beginning to be a great problem-solver. "Chloe utilizes the tools in the classroom to help her with math, reading, and writing. She does a great job when leading calendar and enjoys the responsibility. Chloe is a kind and thoughtful friend and likes helping in the classroom. In addition to doing a nice job of following the routines of each day, she is fun and silly. It is a joy to have Chloe in my classroom."
Peyson Truax is Mrs. Hasler-Elliot's selection. "Peyson recently joined our class, and he was helpful and fun to be around right from the start. It is not always easy moving to a new school, but Peyson has done a really good job of trying his best to adapt to all the changes! Because Peyson knows a lot about cars, he is quick to share his knowledge with his classmates and often dazzles them with all he knows. Although Peyson is a good reader, he works hard to become even better. He is always up for a new book that is a little bit more challenging than the last one. Peyson has a contagious smile that he uses often. He makes kindergarten a fun place to be! We love having you here, Peyson!"
Although Mrs. Edwards is the lone teacher of first graders, she has a large class and selects two candidates. She chose Harper Matkin and Charlie Hewitt as her outstanding students. "Harper has been working hard in all areas of first grade! She is a great helper and does very neat work. She reads a lot of books and doubled her AR reading goal for the third quarter. Awesome job, Harper!"
Regarding Charlie Hewitt, Edwards said, "Charlie has an excitement for learning that is contagious. He makes each day in our classroom more fun! He is creative, hardworking, helpful, and kind. Amazing work, Charlie!"
For the second grade, Ms. Jones and her student teacher Miss Reynolds described Avie Alisch as "wonderful to have in class. Avie has been such a joy because she is helpful and caring to other students. Furthermore, she is friendly and always has a positive attitude."
Mrs. Barber, who also teaches second grade, named Tyrus Seymour as her Student of the Month (SOM). "Tyrus tries really hard on all of his work and does his best. He is great to have in class," Barber stated.
From the third grade, Mrs. Davies selected Ayzlee Kelly and Mrs. Scofield named Kendall Fetter to represent their classrooms. About her candidate, Mrs. Davies said: "Ayzlee works hard to get her work done on time and makes sure that she has everything turned in. Ayzlee is a kind, caring student and a wonderful friend to anyone that crosses her path. She has a nugget of information in regards to just about any topic. Keep up the good work, Ayzlee!! I am proud of you; you can make a difference."
