Harlem Elementary Celebrates ROARing Students and Employees of the Month

May 5, 2021

For the week ending April 16, Meela Hawley, D'Sean Cochran, and Jeremiah Brockie were chosen as Harlem Elementary's in-school ROARing students.

There's always a reason to celebrate or someone who deserves an accolade, and in that spirit, Harlem Elementary has chosen several students to honor as models of the ROAR guidelines. In addition, two honorable employees: Counselors, Ms. Melody Sand and Ms. Ruth Stephenson were selected as Employees of the Month for March.

For the week ending April 16, the students recognized for their behavior as the in-school ROARing students were first grader Meela Hawley, fourth grader D'Sean Cochran, and fifth grader Jeremiah Brockie. Also chosen was Rockin' Remote ROAR student, first grader Aaron Gunn.

About this group, Janice Gilham-who serves as the Computer/Technology Assistant for the school-said: "This fabulous foursome can be counted on to be Respectful, Organized, Always safe, and Responsible at all times while modeling perfect ROAR qualities for their peers. Meela, D'Sean, Jeremiah, and Aaron – you are super-sensational students!"

The week ending April 23 saw another group receive recognition. First grader Drayton Woodard, third grader Shanell Main, and fifth grader Kruz Ereaux were named In-school ROARing Students. Joining this trio as Rockin' Remote Student was sixth grader Autumn Doney. The administration and staff at Harlem Elementary School described the group as "a class act!"

"All of these students prove themselves as purr-fect Li'l Wildcats to earn this impressive distinction," Gilham concluded.

Finally, representing the ROARing Employees for the Month of March are Melody Sand and Ruth Stephenson. School officials reported that "Melody and Ruth have somehow been able to juggle their time and schedules to include both in-school and remote students during this very trying and unconventional year, where their services are needed more than ever. For their extraordinary versatility and professional expertise, these deserving ladies are phenomenal."

As a token of gratitude and appreciation for the jobs they perform, the two counselors received gift cards to Domino's Pizza.
