The Chinook Sugarbeeters, Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds and Turner Tornadoes are in Havre today at the Middle School Track for the District 9C Track and Field Meet. The Harlem Wildcats will be in Wolf Point on Saturday for the District 2B Track and Field Meet.

The final week of the regular season saw the Sugarbeeters and Tornadoes compete in Rudyard last Monday at the Jason Groseclose Memorial Track and Field Meet. Tuesday afternoon the top track and field athletes from north central Montana were in Glasgow for the 36th Annual Top 10. Chinook, Harlem and Turner were on hand for that event. Friday the Wildcats were in Wolf Point for the final regular season competition of 2021.

Turner freshman Dakota Krass was the star of the day in Rudyard Monday afternoon. Krass won three events at the Groseclose meet. She took top honors in the 800 Meter Run, the Discus and the Shot Put to lead the way for the Tornadoes. Senior Shyan Krass provided another boost for the Turner girls, winning the 400 Meter and the 3,200 Meter Run.

Chinook freshman Belle Elliot won the Girls High Jump while freshman Corey Bilger won the boys 3,200 Meter Race. Chinook freshman Charlie McKee was second in the Girls 200 Meter Dash.

The 36th Annual Top 10 featured many of the top athletes in the state including Class A Havre, Class B and Class C schools. The 'Beeters, Wildcats and Tornadoes all had athletes competing in the prestigious event.

Chinook junior Toby Niederegger led the way with a first place finish in the High Jump. Niederegger cleared 6'0" to win the event and has already qualified for the State C in Missoula later this month.

'Beeter sophomore Brenden Fetter earned a podium finish with a time of :23.67 to finish third in the 200 Meter Dash. Fetter and Niederegger were joined by sophomores Tyler Schoen and Braxton Inman on the Boys 4x100 Meter Relay. The quartet completed the three exchanges to finish second with a time of :45.91. The relay has also qualified for the State C.

Chinook freshman Hallie Neibauer continued her outstanding season on the track with a third place effort in the 400 Meter Dash. Neibauer crossed the finish line in 1:01.44.

Sugarbeeter junior Kinley Hamilton recorded a personal best effort of 34'8.5" n the Shot Put to earn a fourth place finish in the event.

Harlem freshman Kaitlynn Johnson has excelled in the 300 Meter Hurdles and at the Top 10 she earned herself a spot on the podium. Johnson crossed the finish line in:51.38 to finish fourth in the event.

Wildcat junior Taya Trottier turned in an outstanding effort in the 1,600 Meter Run. Trottier completed the four laps in a season best time of 5:44.36 to finish fourth in the race.

Earning a spot on the podium is quite an accomplishment, but so is earning a spot in the elite field. It's called the Top 10 simply because only the top 10 efforts in each discipline are invited.

Harlem senior Andrew Rasmussen finished fifth in the 100 Meter Dash (:11.84), while Niederegger was seventh (:11.90). Rasmussen also finished fifth in the Long Jump with a leap of 18'2" and seventh in the Triple Jump (37'11"). Harlem sophomore Amari Stanley was fifth in the Triple Jump with a hop, skip and jump of 38'6".

'Beeter sophomore Anna Terry finished fifth in the 1,600 (5:50.73) and 3,200 Meter (12:49.89) runs setting new personal best marks in both. Turner senior Shyan Krass was eighth in the 800 Meter Run (2:43.04) and eighth in the Discus (93'3"). Chinook senior Jayden Miller was ninth in the Discus with an effort of 88'10"

The Wildcats girls and boys both performed very well in Wolf Point Friday afternoon. Rasmussen had another fine day on both the track and in the field for the Harlem boys.

Rasmussen finished third in the 100 Meter Dash with an effort of :11.65. He then added a third place finish in the Long Jump with a leap of 18'4.75" and another third place finish in the Triple Jump with a distance of 36'1". Stanley won the Triple Jump for the Wildcats with a mark of 38'9.5". Stanley's effort of 18'2.5" in the Long Jump was good for a fifth place finish in the event.

Harlem junior Mikkel Rider threw the Javelin 138'7" Friday in Wolf Point. That effort was good enough to finish second in the event. Wildcat junior RJ Ramone took 5:17.57 to complete the four laps around the track and finished fourth in the 1,600 Meter Run.

Freshman standout Kaitlynn Johnson earned a pair of third place finishes on the day. First she recorded a time of 1:07.25 in the 400 Meter Dash and the posted an effort of :52.61 in the 300 Meter Hurdles. Trottier finished second in the 3,200 Meter Run with a time of 12:48.58.

The Northern C Divisional Track and Field Meet will be held at Memorial Stadium in Great Falls, May 19-20. The Northern B Divisional will be in Glasgow on Saturday, May 22.
