In the good old summer time it’s great to stop at your community library! Are you looking for a new book or magazine to read? How about an audio book for that trip? Mobile hotspots connect you with the internet wherever there is cell service. The library has puzzles and games available for check out. We offer free Wi-Fi 24/7. Just come in and sign up to receive the password. The library provides all these services and more!

Summer Reading programs conclude the third week of July. The final Story Time in the Park will be July 20 at 10 A.M. Elementary students are invited to join the last Sidewalk STEAM program July 21, 1 P.M. at the library. Summer reading participants have through August 6 to log the number of books read. Turn that number in to the library to earn prizes and chances to win the grand prizes at the conclusion of the program.

The Book Challenge for July is to read book featuring an animal. We have some on display for you to choose from.


A new nonfiction book added to the Montana collection is “The Life of the Afterlife in the Big Sky State” by Ellen Baumler, interpretive historian at the Montana Historical Society from 1992 until her retirement in 2018. This work offers a unique, reflective, and sensitive history of death in Montana. It discusses burial practices, changing methods of interments, and the evolutions of cemeteries.

If you are in the mood for a thriller, why not pick up “The Perfect Daughter” by P.J. Palmer. Penny Francone, age sixteen, is a murderer. The evidence shows she is guilty beyond a doubt. Where will she serve her sentence? Will she be placed in a state mental hospital by reason of insanity or serve a life sentence in prison?


“You Belong Here Now” is written by Dianna Rostad. Set in Montana, this work tells the story of three children who leave New York City hoping for a better life in Big Sky Country. Before they reach the final stop, the oldest, Charles, comes up with a plan. The three set off alone toward the Yellowstone River where they wind up on a ranch stricken by loss.

Paula McLain is the author of “When the Stars Go Dark.” Anna Hart has come back to her childhood home of Mendocino, California, to grieve a tragedy. The day she arrives she learns that a local teenage girl has gone missing. The crime reminds Anna of a similar unsolved murder of a young girl that happened in her childhood and change Mendocino forever. Using her skills as a seasoned missing persons detective Anna knows she must save the missing girl.

Two WWII historical fictions selections include “Band of Sisters” by Lauren Willig and “The Last Night in London” by Karen White.

Former President George W. Bush has published a collection of stories and oil paintings that spotlight journeys of America’s immigrants and the contributions they have made to our country. This collection is called “Out of Many, One.”

The library is sponsoring the program “1000 Books Before Kindergarten” to encourage family literacy. Parents are invited to register their children ages 0-preschool and track the number of books read together. Children receive a free board book from the library when they register and will earn incentives for reading 500 and 1000 books. Contact the library for more information.
