Reese Elliot - First-time Donor

The Chinook community will host a community blood drive with the American Red Cross on Tuesday, September 14th from 12 noon to 6PM at Wallner Hall 330 Ohio (behind the Methodist Church, the door is facing 4th street). To make an appointment to donate you may sign up online at redcrossblood.org.

With a simple blood donation, we have the ability to help save the life of someone who could be a coworker, loved one or neighbor."

Blood is routinely transfused to patients with cancer and other diseases, premature babies, organ transplant recipients and trauma victims, according to the Red Cross.

The short amount of time it takes to donate can mean a lifetime to a patient with a serious medical condition. We urge eligible donors to join us in the selfless act of giving blood.

Donors of all blood types are needed, especially those with types O negative, B negative and A negative. According to the Red Cross, type O negative is the universal blood type that can be safely transfused to anyone, and is often used to treat trauma patients.

The American Red Cross has updated its pandemic safety protocols: ALL individuals at blood drives must wear a face mask regardless of vaccination status, effective August 9, 2021.

In regards to our previous drive in July: I would like to acknowledge all those that came and gave their life saving gift. There were 60 of you that presented. Your time and donation was greatly appreciated.

No milestones were reported for the drive in July, however, we did have one first time donor. Welcome Reese Elliott. Hope to see you again in September.

The canteen was hosted by the ladies of the Zion Lutheran Church and the Presbyterian Church: Carol Johnsrud, Sandy Miller, Cardina Hofeldt, Sherry Edwards, and Sharmon Moxley. The site for the drive was compliments of the United Methodist Church and Pastor Jack Mattingly, Assisting at check in was Judy Johnson, Roxanne Townsend and Linda Thompson. Cleanup was provided by Chrissy Downs and the JUMP youth group.

Door prizes were provided by the ladies of Zion Lutheran and the Presbyterian Church as well as the North Central Montana Cattlewomen. Door prizes were awarded to Melanie Qualls, Sandi Boardman, Art Richman, Taylor Neibauer, Diana Rieshus, Mariah Kellam and Royce Houtzel.

It was a great turnout all due to the wonderful donors and volunteers. Lets do it again on September 14th. See you there.
