HOMECOMING ACTIVITIES HELD AT TURNER

October 6, 2021

Max Cederberg and Darla Quinlan escorted a group of older ladies in the parade. These ladies are regulars at the Beauty Shop in Turner on Fridays. They enjoy gathering each Friday and today was no exception. They enjoyed lunch from the Junior High concessions prior to the parade. Shown are Max Cederberg, Darla Quinlan and her mother, Rose Van Voast, Glenna Ammen, Marjorie Hickel, and Carla Van Voast.

The 2021 Homecoming was held this past weekend on Turner's Main Street. A carnival hosted by grades 7 and 8 kicked off the festivities. A variety of games, including Bingo, was held as well as corn dogs and Taco's in a bag. Everyone loved eating out for the day and having fun with the kids.

A group of older ladies in the community were escorted down the street by Max Cederberg in his old Cadillac, which had the top down! The ladies who led the parade of floats were those who are regular Friday customers at the Beauty Shop. They did have a good time. They were Rose Van Voast and her daughter, Darla Quinlan, Glenna Ammen, Marjorie Hickel, and Carla Van Voast.

Starting off the parade were the Hogeland and Turner Fire trucks, ambulance, and some Harley motorbikes carrying the American Flag, Montana Flag, and the tornado flag. A few community people also joined in the parade.

Crowning of the King and Queen was held prior to the parade. They are Laci Maloney and Trever Kimmel. Laci is the daughter of Brenda and Chris Maloney, while Trever is the son of Tricia and PJ Kimmel. Both are Seniors at Turner High.

The floats were decorated to fit a certain decade. The 7th graders chose the 1990's showing a variety of Tornado sports gear, the 8th grade chose the 50's with a Twistin' Tornado Diner complete with a poodle skirt, lettermans jackets and rolled up jeans. The 9th grade chose the year of 1912, depicting the Titanic sinking. Their float had an iceberg and kids were in the ship that was sinking, looking out the windows. The 10th graders chose a flat depicting 1969 with the moon landing. The Junior Class had a 70's model pickup and the saying, Alright, Alright, Alright! on their posters. The Seniors chose the 80's decade. They had what would be a typical decorated bedroom during that decade, complete with a rotary phone in see through colorful wires, a big TV, and the typical old gold couch.

After the floats made their way down Main Street, the Homecoming coronation was held. The candidates were Cassidy Grabofsky, Trent Billmayer, Ryan Doyle, Dakota Krass, Trever Kimmel, Laci Maloney, Lacey Hickel, and Shay Humphreys. The Prince and Princess were crowned. They were Shay Humphreys and Lacey Hickel. King and Queen were Trever Kimmel and Laci Maloney.

The entire crowd enjoyed the day and look forward to next year's fun!
