The Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds picked up their first conference win against Box Elder on September 28, sweeping the Bears 25-13, 25-16 and 25-10.

They began this last week with a match against the undefeated Geraldine/Highwood Rivals. The Thunderbirds competed hard and made the Rivals earn each point but fell in the first match 25-15, 25-16, 25-7 and match number two 25-9, 25-16, 25-14.

Saturday the girls hosted the Fort Benton Longhorns, the District 7C No. 2, in a Homecoming doubleheader. It was a special day for the Thunderbirds, getting a chance to honor their senior at the football game earlier in the afternoon and then play in front of the Homecoming crowd themselves.

The Longhorns won both matches against the improving Thunderbirds. Fort Benton took Match one, 25-17, 25-11, 25-21. In Match two it was Fort Benton again 25-16, 25-21, 25-5.
