Merry Christmas from the Harlem Library! We will be closed Friday, December 24 for Christmas and Friday, December 31 in observance of New Year’s Day.

There will be no programs the week of December 27.

Programs will resume the first week of January. Story Time is held on Tuesdays at 10 A.M. for the little ones ages 0-5 and their parents or caregivers. Elementary students are invited to After School Squad for STEAM activities on Wednesdays at 3:30. Lego Club for all ages will meet on Thursdays at the new time of 3:30 beginning January 6.

The Book Challenge for December is to read a book that puts you in the holiday spirit. We have a great selection on our Christmas Book Tree. The Book Challenge for January 2022 is to read a collection of short stories. The list of challenges for 2022 will be available at the library, on our Facebook page, and on the website. Contact the library when you complete a challenge so your name may be entered to win a gift certificate from a local business.


Book Club members may pick up the new selection “If the Creek Don’t Rise” by Leah Weiss January 3-7 with the first discussion January 10, 4 P.M.

New titles at the library this week include two selections in the Bone Season series by Samantha Shannon. These are “The Mask Falling” and “The Sone Rising.”

Tom Clancy fans will want to read “Chain of Command,” a Jack Ryan novel by Marc Cameron.

A new biography by journalist Katie Couric is “Going There.” “In her brutally honest, hilarious, heartbreaking memoir, she reveals what was going on behind the scenes of her tumultuous personal and professional life.”

Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award winning author Louise Erdrich brings to readers her new novel “The Sentence.” This is a wickedly funny ghost story which includes passion, a complex marriage and a woman’s relentless errors.

Lee Child and Andrew Child have teamed up to bring to readers the latest Jack Reacher thriller “Better Off Dead.”

A new novel by inspirational author Karen Kingsbury is “Forgiving Paris.” “Could Ashley Baxter Blake’s journey to forgiveness lead her back to the city of light?”

Stop by the library to enjoy the “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” display.

There will be no library board meeting this month.
