March 23, 2022

Eric Tilleman, Agricultural Education Specialist at Montana Office of Public Instruction, reminded students last week about the Montana Farm Bureau’s five available scholarships with an April 1 deadline.

Sponsored by the Women’s Leadership Committee and available to Montana Farm Bureau members, the Montana Farm Bureau Federation will present two, $1,500.00 scholarships to incoming college freshmen.

Another $1,500 scholarship, the Future of Agriculture Honor Scholarship is administered by the Montana Farm Bureau Foundation through donations from Seed Source, Inc. of Toston, Montana. This scholarship is available to students who have achieved at least a sophomore level of education and who are pursuing a major, minor, or graduate degree in a field pertaining to agriculture. Special emphasis will be given to applicants who have shown ingenuity in agricultural production and advancement of small scale agriculture.

An award not limited to students pursuing a degree or career in agriculture, the $1,500 Bernard Greufe Honor Scholarship was established to assist Montana Farm Bureau members and children of members pursue a higher education.

Two smaller scholarships are also available. The Collegiate Young Farmer & Rancher Scholarship and the Yellowstone County Farm Bureau Scholarship. While the latter is not available to Blaine County students, the Montana Farm Bureau Foundation will award a $1,000 scholarship to a current member of the Collegiate Chapter of Young Farmers and Ranchers at MSU Bozeman, UM Western, Miles Community College or Dawson Community College.

Students wishing to apply for these scholarships can find additional information by signing in to the Montana Farm Bureau scholarship portal using the link: mfbf.org/Programs/Scholarships. All applications are due April 1, 2022.

Originally created in 1919 with the goal of making the business of farming and ranching more profitable—and to make Montana a better place to live, Montana Farm Bureau is a grassroots organization. Their scholarship program is one measure to verify their dedication to preserving and improving the agriculture and natural resource industries through member involvement in education, political activities, programs and services.
